Great headphones but they had their disadvantages.
These headphones a great if you crave bass. These headphones are awesome for watching movies when you don’t want to bother anyone else. When you put them on you’ll notice they do a considerably good job with noise cancelling and when you watch a movie or play a game they make you feel like you have a home theater system on your head. As for music they are best for hip hop/rap, electro, and any music with heavy bass below 50Hz.Although they are not so good for rock, heavy metal or any other type of rock because there is a gap in the frequency response of the main driver and the sub woofer where most of the bass in rock music is. I was disappointed by that. When I first saw these I was instantly in love with them and I didn’t bother to read about them or let the reviews change my point of view, and if your like me this is probably the case. If you are gonna get them you’ll have the mess with the equalizer of your audio source to make them sound how you want them to. They seem like a really cool thing, o look these have sub woofers in them how awesome is that. But keep in mind they are “vibrating” sub woofers and do NOT perform like a normal sub woofer and like I said lack bass in the 50Hz to 200Hz region. That’s about where a lot of a bass guitars sound and where most of your vibration occurs. So if you do get these don’t expect then to be act like miniature sub woofers cause they are meant to shake more than they are to reproduce sound. And also they headband is not exactly as what is pictured, it has a soft foam piece where the top of your head meets the headband, the new headband is more comfortable than what is pictured and is very strong and astonishingly light for it’s size. These are a great set of headphones. They are very good at keeping outside noise out and youe noise in. Therefore you can be blasting these suckers and the person beside you will hardly even notice. The SQ is great and easily compares to some of the more recognized headphones companies such as Sennheiser which retail for around $100 - $150. Overall they are one of the best headphones you can ge for the price even if you aren’t looking for the sub woofer, they offer superior noise canceling abilities, great SQ , are very light, and have a sub woofer in them. There isn’t much more more you can ask for for $40-$50. If you don’t mind the small region of bass between 50-200Hz that isn’t as strong as with a conventional set of headphones then I would highly recommend these. And if you are worried about what I said then you should go and heck out Evergreen Technologies RumbleFX Force Feedback headphones, they are the best you can get with subwoofers in them, very loud, 40mm drivers, and light, although they don’t offer as much noise canceling as the SkullCrushers do, if you do want to get a pair a the EverGreen Technologies you’ll have to look around hard because rumor has it they are stopping production on the universal pair but if you don’t need the universal pair just grab the AudioFX version with an USB connection instead. They are definitely worth it. Or if you prefer something smaller try the in ear Pelican Earsubs, only $20-$30 and have basically all the characteristics of the skullCrushers in a earbud form. There are also a new set of earbuds coming out soon caled the bass freguency V-Moda earbuds.
Exceptional Sound for Price
I am an eighteen year old at highschool and got these headphones yesterday at Circuit City for $75.00 (w/ tax etc) I listen primarily to techno music but throw in everything else from Cream, to some Broadway songs, to Old School rap, the headphones will deal with most anything with pretty good sound. The bass is something incredible, you can’t really understand what it produces until you try them out properly, it is amazing, they can get very low frequency, and very low notes and give a very powerful vibration which really does sound like a high end subwoofer system in a car or home theater. The bass adjuster is useful and you will most likely want to adjust it between songs, obviously this is easy, if you listen to the same genre constantly you can find a perfect setting, or just put it at 100 percent to show what they can do! The first night I got these I listened to the album “Back to Black” by Amy Winehouse, and they couldn’t have delivered better sound for the album. Now I give you easy pros and cons

These phones are certainly worth buying if you listen to bass heavy music, the bad reviews must be coming from those who are either not adjusting them, or listen to music that doesn’t capitalize on the bass qualities. I also own the Bose In-Ear earphones, and the Bose on-ear quiet comforts, these can compare, I use the on-ears for the noise cancelling, the in-ears for running and light-weight traveling, now I have the Skullcandys for techno and rap. So now its your choice
Best Headphones EVER
Let me start off this review by saying the Skullcrushers are honestly the best pair of headphones I’ve ever owned, even when compared to other headphones that cost over twice as much…
My last pair of headphones got destroyed, and I was looking for an affordable replacement that was circumaural (over-the-ear), offered strong bass, had a cool design, and ideally, sound-canceling. While these headphones don’t offer active sound-canceling, most outside noises get noticeably reduced, especially when you’re busy enjoying the incredible bass performance!
I spent a lot of time researching different headphone models before getting these, and read mixed reviews. I’ve come to realize, however, a lot of reviewers who shoot down quality headphones such as these tend to be audiophiles who focus on incredibly minute details that most listeners would never notice. Other times they say that one would be better off buying a more expensive pair of headphones…unfortunately, not everyone has the flexibility to choose between $60 Skullcrushers or a $300 pair of Bose Headphones!
I also own the SkullCandy Double Agent wireless headphones, and though I paid considerably more for those, I think these offer considerably better bass performance and overall sound quality. I have many different genres of music on my MP3 player, and love the handy bass-adjuster switch that allows me to toggle just how much bass is delivered.
If you’re in the market for powerful headphones with great bass, and you don’t want to spend too much, the Skullcrushers are for you!

Great Portable Telescope Good starter scope, not so great eyepieces However, if you buying it to do astronomy (rather than to learn about optics), some advice : 1) Do *not* buy the accessory kit. There is no way you can get your head into a position where you could use the spot finder. Unless you are a squirrel. 2) *Do* buy some better eyepieces and a Barlow. With the included eyepieces, Jupiter is a fuzzy orange circle. With a better eyepiece and a Barlow, I could see the bands, the Great Red Spot and the poles. The weakness of this telescope is the included the eyepieces. However, in my opinion, you could throw them in the garbage and the FirstScope would still be a bargain. Eyepieces are replaceable, and you can use them on just about any other telescope. Customer Reviews: Perfect for connecting your iPod to your home music system + product details First off, Amazon’s two sentence product description is a bit too brief, so here are some specs from the packaging: Communication System: Compatible iPod models (official): Although the compatibility list does not mention it, this add-on definitely works with the iPod classic, because that’s what I’m using. The terminal is the current standard 30-pin connector, so if your iPod is more recent than the above list, chances are that it will probably work… but I can only speak for the classic. CONTENTS: USAGE: SOUND: For reference, I’m using the transmitter in conjunction with the Sony HWS-BTA2W Bluetooth wireless audio transmitter/receiver as my Bluetooth receiver. Both these two devices support Bluetooth 2.0 and A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile). For audio comparisons, I used a pair of Sony MDR-V700DJ Monitor Series Headphones. One important thing to note is that you cannot control the volume of the transmitted sound. I’m not exactly sure why that is, but it appears to be by design. All your iPod controls behave as they normally do and you can even move the volume slider up or down, however it has no effect on the transmitted sound. Some functions, however, do still affect the sound, such as “Sound Check”, “Volume Limit”, and all the “EQ” settings. Since these features still work, I’m assuming that the lack of volume control is by design. The volume output is the max allowed by the Volume Limit setting. My only guess is that the volume control is to be used in conjunction with AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile), but I don’t have such a device to confirm. I don’t know if this happens on other iPod bluetooth adaptors, but I could see the inability to control the volume via the iPod becoming an issue if you want to use it with a BT headset (unless the headset has volume controls) RANGE: But once you block the path with walls or other sources of interference, the signal will start to become choppy or completely cut off. Be warned that your body can also block the signal. Cupping my hands completely around the transmitter would pretty much turn the signal to crap beyond only a few feet from the BT receiver. In most cases, as long as I’m witin a one or two feet, the signal still comes through, but the more I block the signal and the further I go, the more the signal would degrade, as is to be expected. As far as home use goes, as long as I’m in the same room and not actively trying to block the signal, I haven’t had any problems. DESIGN: I have seen similar Bluetooth attachments for the iPod which are little blocks the same width as the iPod. Personally, I prefer the small design of the Sony. One major factor that I like about it is that I can plug it into my iPod without removing it from its protective case. I use a leather casing by INCASE which only leaves me an opening for the 30-pin connector at the bottom. My main pet peeve that I have about most block adaptors is that while they may blend better with the iPod in overall shape, there aren’t any cases (that I know of) available that fit an iPod WITH attachments, so if you use a case and want to connect something, chances are you’ll have to remove the iPod from its case before plugging in your accessory. The Sony might make for an odd shape, but for my purposes at least, it works better and I think that it still looks pretty slick. One thing that Sony could have added, however, is a locking clip for the transmitter. The transmitter sits pretty snugly and doesn’t feel like it’ll fall out by accident, but it would have been nice to have that extra sense of security. CONCLUSION: As an aside, my primary goal was to connect my iPod to my home speaker system. I was originally looking at the iPod Universal Dock, but found it to be completely worthless, since the remote control could only play/pause/skip prev/next and control the volume. For actually selecting music, I still had to go up to the dock in order to browse for my music. And who wants to get up to change music anyway? Using this Bluetooth setup, I can now use my iPod as a fully functional “remote” (except for volume) and have my music come out of my main speaker system. I do wish I could have the option of charging my iPod while it’s broadcasting (since the charging port is occupied by the transmitter), but the fact that I can keep my iPod in its protective case and the nice compact size and look of the transmitter makes for a decent tradeoff. Bottom line: If you have a nice home speaker setup, I totally recommend going this route! **UPDATE 12/13/2007** Usage: Lack of volume control: Tiny Dynamo As others have said, it pairs very easily and since it draws power from the iPod, it doesn’t require charging. Some additional notes: The size of the button is very convenient for any size fingers (many units feature extremely small buttons). The unit fits securely in the iPod and does not break connection if you shake the iPod, and I mean SHAKE it. Great even for robust exercise. The power it draws from the iPod is minimal, having only a negligible effect on the battery charge. In this configuration, it outlasts the charge of my Motorokr S9 Headphones The sound quality is excellent. My previous Bluetooth transmitter was never so clear. The range is the best I’ve come across for a Bluetooth device. As an experiment, I connected the device to my iPod in my bedroom and then went downstairs to do some laundry. The sound was clear and uninterrupted until I got to the laundry room door, about 30-35 feet from my iPod. You really can’t go wrong with this unit. Acer One D250 with Windows 7 The netbook arrived the day after Windows 7 was released and I immediately got to work removing the “extras” that come with the computer. Surprisingly though, Acer did not load too much bloat on the machine and getting it off took no time at all. So then began the installation process. Avast, Office, iTunes, CD Burning software, VLC, Chrome, Firefox, Skype and Quicktime (the usuals) were all immediate needs and all went on with ease. I did purchase the extra gig of RAM that is recommended on most other netbooks (read around and you’ll see) as well, however, it did not come until 3 days later so I had a decent amount of time to play around with this machine with just 1g. Even with 1 gig, iTunes ran smoothly, I was able to watch Hulu with no hiccups, Office didn’t lag… I was actually quite surprised. The 2 gig showed up eventually though, and things got even better. Installation was a breeze (just open the memory “door” and clip it in) and took only 30 seconds. The computer recognized it instantly. Once up and running again, the system was noticeably faster… very noticeable. Having open multiple programs is not a problem at all (something I will admit I was concerned about initially). Along the same lines as the memory upgrade, an external DVD drive may be another buy you will want (just like with every other netbook). I did not invest in one, simply because I will not be needing it, but just a thought when pricing out your “full” purchase. So, what is good and what is bad? Pros: Battery life - lives up to the advertisement (for the most part). I run it on the intermediate setting and get 7 hours easy. Currently at 45% right now and have 4 hours and 5 minutes left. Wireless N and Bluetooth - while not “necessary” these are very nice. I can pick up signals with my netbook that other laptops in the house cannot get. Range is amazing. Speed - A lot faster than what I was expecting and blew away all my expectations. Just make sure you spend the extra 20-40 bucks and get the extra memory. You will see a big difference (keep in mind though, she does fine with 1 gig). 2 is always better though. Display - Very clear and easy on the eyes. Thought I might have issues with the small screen but it looks amazing. Windows 7 - you can read the reviews about it specifically but it runs great. I’ll leave it at that. Cons: Keyboard - slightly smaller than some other netbook keyboards out there and can be tricky sometimes. Touchpad - Acer, as with others, boasts a multi-touch pad (similar to an iPhone or iPod Touch). Maybe I just haven’t found the right use for it, but I find it nearly worthless and even when I can get it to “work,” it is slow and not very useful. Also, some may find the touchpad a tad too small (at least I do). Finally, the click bar on the touchpad is not broken up into two buttons, and while this is fairly common, the click bar can be tough to click sometimes and there are times I will try to click and hit the middle, which does nothing, and you don’t “know” until you look down to see what you’re clicking. I think two distinct buttons would have been better and easier. In the end, this model (and it’s brightly colored siblings), in my view, are an excellent buy if you’re in the market. At around $400 (depending on how much you get the RAM for), this machine comes with features that you will only find in more expensive netbooks. While I’ve only had it for a week, I will say I am very pleased with my investment. If time permits, I will update this to review how it holds up with travel, etc… but based on simple home wireless use, I have very very few complaints. Another Fine Netbook from Acer OVERVIEW: bright, clear screen; snappy response (based on a couple of hours of adding and removing programs, after the 31 updates to Win7 first downloaded); tolerable streaming video (ran HD Apple trailers in 480 mode fine; Hulu was sometimes “choppy”; ran “Large” non-HD Apple trailers fine; ran ABC.GO.COM tv shows tolerably well; won’t run Hulu in 480 mode or full screen; ran HQ You Tube fine). Smaller screen and smaller keyboard at a time when other netbooks are bumping up against super light laptops, but at least this is under 3 pounds WITH the charger. And you can’t beat that battery life! WHAT COULD BE BETTER: The 11.6″ screen on some Aspire Ones is superb - more pixels = ability to see NY Times online full screen without scrolling (the 10.1″ on this one requires slight scrolling, but you are only missing “ad boxes” on the right hand anyway). HOWEVER I bought a 10.1″ because all the 11.6″ models come with downgraded Atom processors (z520 with GMA 500 chips vs. the N280 and GMA 900 on this one). SHOULD come with 2 GB of memory to match the other upgraded specs on this otherwise upgraded version, but unfortunately, doesn’t. NOT ALL ASPIRE AOD250′S ARE CREATED EQUAL DEPT.: Danger Will Robinson! Danger Will Robinson! Danger Will Robinson! PLEASE NOTE that Aspire has put the AOD250 label on a WHOLE HOST of widely different netbooks. Things to watch out for: the N280 is MUCH faster than the N270 - not because of the processor speed (1.66 vs. 1.6, nothing!) but because of the front bus (memory) speed (677 vs. 533, a lot!). This version, as of the date I write this review, also comes with Win7 while many come with XP; comes with 250 GB hard drive instead of 160 GB on most AOD250’s; has wireless N instead of G (a LOT faster, when internet cafes and other locations upgrade); has Blue Tooth; has the 6 cell battery (AND it’s in the 5200 m.a. version, not the 4200). WHAT I DID ON DELIVERY (ymmv so think before you leap: 1. BEFORE inserting the battery, I removed one easy screw from the middle back panel, pulled a couple of side clips off the existing memory module, and did a 5 minute total upgrade to 2GB of RAM. Super simple. 2. Install the battery, plug in the charger, boot up. 3. Wait for normal set up; enter minimal information. 4. Load Internet Explorer and click on Windows update - the computer will update soon on its own, but this speeds it up. 5. Installed 38 security updates and 3 non-essential updates. Note: Acer has its own update program to check for BIOS and device driver updates, a nice touch, I went in and changed the update frequency to monthly from daily. 6. Uninstalled the trial antivirus program. Which virus program you choose is up to you; I’ve had good luck with Panda (paid) and with AVG (free, no ads). Based on what I read since then, I decided to try Microsoft’s new, free basic protection program, Microsoft Security Essentials (Google: download Microsoft Security Essentials) and quickly installed it. It’s not supposed to be as up to date as some, but it’s overhead is low and I have some confidence that MSFT will try to make it work well in conjunction with their Win7 patches and updates. NOTE: Security Essentials has its own Malware program which replaces Windows Defender which comes with Win7. Make sure both aren’t running at the same time (make sure Security Essentials DID turn off Windows Defender). 7. Uninstalled all the junkware (trial Office, Norton BackUp, eSobi, etc.). Uninstalled all the excess MSFT baggage - Silverlight, Live Essentials. If you ever use a program that wants chunks of these, they will ask to download and reinstall and you can decide then. NOTE: you don’t want tags of too many programs running in memory, that slows down the computer especially video - the “load” from the antivirus can be especially significant. 8. Downloaded Quicktime; iTunes; Flash 10 (already installed - good work Acer! - but there was an incremental update since the build they installed on my hard drive. KUDOS TO AMAZON DEPT.: I got this overnight, with the memory chip to upgrade, for only $28. Wow. I could have had free delivery by waiting a week or two with Super Saver. And they actually got the right computer to me - given how my AOD250’s variants they stock, and colors, that’s no mean feat. WHY YOU MIGHT WANT GET THE SMALLER BATTERY DEPT.: The humongous runs forever battery is fatter and heavier. Heavy, not a problem; wider not a problem; problem is, it juts down from the body which means it doesn’t fit well in a flat computer slot. On the other hand, it elevates the rear of the deck slightly for better cooling. YOU SHOULD GET THIS IF: You are cheap or on a budget or want a very light, very small, very functional computer for travel. If you write, blog, browse the web, watch YouTube, download to iTunes (250 gb helps). YOU SHOULD NOT GET THIS IF: You want to watch Hulu in higher resolution and/or at full screen; if you burn a lot of DVDs; if you do Photoshop or make movies; if you play video games that make demands on hardware. Get the new white Macbook instead. MY CRYSTAL BALL SAYS THESE THINGS WILL CHANGE IN ONE YEAR: Dual core Atom chips (already available); lower power consumption support chips instead of the ancient 945; better graphics chips (from Intel, or from 3rd parties, Nvidia already has the Ion); standard 2 gb with optional 4 gb; 11.6 as the “premium” netbook niche and 10.1 as the “standard” niche with small screens disappearing; XP disappears, finally replaced by Win7. AND THE QUESTION YOU WANTED ANSWERED FIRST: Yes, Win7 works out of the box. Abiword works fine with it. Yes it is as fast, to my eye and hand, as XP. Yes, it will be supported a lot longer in the future than XP. NO, stay away from Vista even on a close out model. I had it one one netbook and had to return it, it was so slow. Win7 Starter has no “eye candy” for the desktop but it is FAST. Great netbook The Acer Aspire One D250-1633 is exactly as advertised. A nice small netbook with an easy to read screen. Windows 7 Starter works fine. So does Office 2007. I was concerned about the 1 GB memory but Windows 7 Starter seems very lean and Word and Excel and Internet Explorer run (at the same time) with memory to spare. The keyboard certainly is smaller than normal, but I’m a hunt and peck typist so it makes little difference to me. Customer Reviews: Do your research…. Don’t believe all these 5 star reviews from people who reviewed the drive the day they installed it. It will run great when you first put it in. But 15-60 days in you will start hearing clunking noises. Your system will start freezing for a second or two here or there. The drive’s load cycle count will start to skyrocket (to the point that even under “normal” use the drive will fail within a year by Seagate’s own numbers). If you’re really unlucky, the drive will suddenly die. Don’t play russian roulette with your data. Don’t fall for this drive’s relatively low price or nice specs. The most important spec in a hard drive is reliability. This one sucks. Two in a row have failed I think it is fair to say that Seagate is really running these at the ragged edge of what is possible. While the transfer rates can approach 90 Mb/s at the edge of the platter, according to a few quick tests I ran, the transfer rate fluctuates greatly, and the drive shows a pretty constant stream of software-corrected (ECC) errors. In other words, you’re not losing data, but the data coming off the drive is on the border of what is readable, such that the drive needs to rely on error correction and/or rereads (hence the fluctuating speeds) to get the data off. I base these conclusions on the fact that tests of data on the inside of the platter (which has much less speed) are much more reliable (albeit slower). If you do decide to get one of these, do yourself a favor and backup (which you should do anyways, because all hard drives are subject to fail at any time). Seagate Momentus 7200.4 I ordered two hard drives The second drive did install it in a White Macbook 2.4 Ghz, to replace a 5400rpm 160 GB Hitachi, there is a real significant difference between the old Hitachi, and this drive for sure, the Macbook is really flying now, boot times are faster, and applications load fast too. The over All performance did boast I guess 40% more. Customer Reviews: High Quality Sleeve For Kindle 2 This case has a nice soft inside material that sort of reminds me of micro fiber. Also it seems to provide enough padding to keep the Kindle from getting damaged from accidental drops or from being damaged while in another bag. I wanted a case that was fully enclosed but worried that a zipper case may scratch the sides of the device when opening or closing a zippered case. The book style cases didn’t provide a fully encasement when shut not to mention the case was attached to the Kindle when in use. The only thing I would have changed is the amount of room for the Kindle. It is not a big deal but when you pick up the case with the Kindle inside you can tell, that at times, you are accidently pressing a the next buttons on the side of the device. This isn’t a big deal because I always but my Kindle to sleep before placing in the case but I still find it half way annoying. Just a little extra room, maybe a 1/4 inch, possibly less may keep this from happening. **Update** I did accidentally drop my Kindle once so far while getting out of my car and the sleeve protected it from the parking lot gravel. Like the Bags, This will Last Forever So I went to find a sleeve. This sleeve is by far the most rugged I’ve found. The case and Timbuk2 messenger bag is sitting next to each other while I’m writing this on the train. I can tell you for a fact that they make these from the same nylon used to make the bags, and it will probably last as long. The Patagonia seems cheap by comparison. The stitching and velcro are solid and the interior is a chamois-like fabric. This thing will definitely protect your Kindle should it take a spill or from bumps and drops in your bag while traveling. A quality Kindle sleeve That being said, I looked for a sleeve that looked easy enough for me to slip my Kindle in and out of easily and without having anything to possibly scuff up the device. I was going to settle on a sleeve with a zipped closure but happen to see this Timbuk2 sleeve that utilized velcro. And I love it! The sleeve is decently padded that I feel comfortable placing my Kindle in my backpack with the sleeve. The velcro works perfectly as well, making it super easy to get the Kindle in and out easily and without having to look for anything metal (i.e. a zipper) to possibly rub up and scratch the device. The one disadvantage a velcro-closure has compared to a zip-closure is that, while in a closed state, it isn’t a 100% fully closed state. The velcro and the fold-over flap are quite secure but nothing beats a zipped-up closure. If you’re looking for a quality sleeve for your Kindle, I would highly suggest this sleeve by Timbuk2.
