Very favorable company to work with. Product was here in plenty of time for Christmas.

Yu Yu Hakusho may not be the most well-liked anime above dragonball z, naruto, evangelion, etc. But it does have everything they all have and more. To be objective the english dubs for all the other animes fair sound like the deliver actors are reading instead of putting honest emotions into their voices to effect it sound trusty. That’s the what yu yu hakusho has over almost all the animes I have ever seen. The converse overs are outstanding and I judge that’s one thing that everyone should know separates a marvelous english dubbed anime to a poor one.

This is one of the best duel-of-wits on the high seas between submarine and destroyer ever filmed. Robert Mitchum as the captain of an American destroyer and Curt Jurgens as the captain of a German submarine try to out maneuver each other in a battle of nerves, instincts, intelligence, seamanship and raw courage. The multi-talented Dick Powell directed this taught drama, which remains one of the most memorable and benchmark films of this genre. The interior of the German submarine does not have the realistic or claustrophobic notice as seen in DAS BOOT but that’s not the point. Powell’s focus is on the two captains and how they act and react. This film does not lose perceive of the mentality of that era and the psychological makeup of the men at sea above and below. This is classic filmmaking and should not be overshadowed by the novel resurgence of sure World War II films that seem to have lost discover of the reason men fought and died. This film also has an impressive cast featuring David Hedison, Theodore Bikel, Kurt Kreuger and Doug McClure. Robert Mitchum and Curt Jurgens portrayed right men of honor each dedicated to their duty that they were called upon.

This is not the average sub-film that centers on the crews of the sub and the sub-chaser. This is a two-man cat and mouse film, marvelously done with style and incisive insight.

Robert Mitchum is the man who rises to do what is needed. Not a superhero, but a very human man who goes into war and does what is required. He is the Captain of a U.S. destroyer sent out to track U-boats. Curt Jurgens is his mirror reflection - below - a Captain of the U-Boat that becomes the target of Mitchum’s search. He is not a product of the Nazi war-machine, but again, a very likable man unprejudiced defending his country. This is demonstrated with deft humor when Jurgens very deliberately hangs his jacket over the plaque of Hitler’s propaganda.

The script eschews the stereotypical “Nazi monsters”, and portrays a German crew with very valid - and universal - emotions. They, too, were fair men doing their job and what is required. Instead of having us root for the Americans to blow up the infamous Germans, you are assign in the residence of caring equally for both sides. You comprehend that they are men, offering their lives for their divulge, not in a political intention, but in a time-honoured fashion of a man going to war. You understand both sides REALLY do not want to be here, to waste or be killed; they would rather home. No rousing stereotypical propaganda. In the demolish, they will waste each other if they must, but given the choice, they would rather not. Very different for that period of war films.

A puny dated appearance on the boat scenes by today’s standards. It’s definite toy models when the boats smash, but easily overlooked and dismissed when balanced with the very impressive lack of finger-pointing and flag-waving for either nationality. Both Mitchum and Jurgens are dead-bang on target in their lead roles, with David Hedison, Theodore Bickel and Doug McClure round out a spruce cast

MOSQUITO SQUADRON is quite British and a very enthralling World War II action adventure account that focuses both on legend and military air bombing strategies of the era. Starring David McCallum as Quint Munroe a Canadian-born RAF pilot he leads an exellent cast that includes Charles Gray as Air Commodore Hufford, Vladek Sheybal as Lieutenant Schack and Robert Urquhart as Major Kemble. Directed by Boris Sagal this film features shimmering cinematography by Paul Beeson (RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK), an outstanding find detached by Frank Cordell (KHARTOUM) and effective special effects Les Bowie (X THE UNKNOWN) . David McCallum is a vivid and spellbinding actor who gives modern meaning to underplaying a role and detached being the focal point of the viewer. This is a limited overlooked gem of a film. I highly recommend it.

Mosquito Squadron is a expedient rip-roaring adventure of a war movie to observe on a rainy summer day. David McCallum is titanic in his role of Quint Monroe, a RAF pilot who fights one war in Europe and a personal one in his heart. During a bombing raid, Monroe’s best friend, the squad’s CO is shot down by German fighters who jumped them. Monroe tells his friend’s wife, Beth, that her husband has been killed, sparking a romance that they had before the war. While Monroe is trying to derive over the loss of his friend, the RAF Deliver learn that the Germans are halt to completing their recent V-3 rocket at a secret testing center advance a ruined church. When Monroe and the squad accept ready to bomb the church, a modern threat comes their device, the Germans are holding a group of British POWs hostage, including Monroe’s friend, who didn’t die. Monroe becomes conflicted with himself, he must bomb the church before the rockets can be fired at London, but he also wants to establish his friend and the other POW from massacare. Monroe manages to cold down and stages a bold raid on the prison with the benefit of the French Resistance and other RAF squadrons. One of Monroe’s planes will bomb a allotment of the wall which the French will be able to accomplish a gallant raid on the prison compound and free the POWs. Will Monroe and the Mosquito Squadron pull the raid off? Will he be able to attach his friend?

Biological warfare leads to the creation of a landscape littered with zombies roaming the land. An unidentified man gives himself an experimental injection with the hope of virus immunity. Bounties are paid to hunters for killing zombies; payments are based upon appendages detached at the end status. Sounds like a large premise, true? Too poor the movie ruined it.

This movie is from A to Z abominable, here are a few examples:

Acting - Not a single cast member utters a convincing line; they’re disagreeable.

Blood - B should have been for budget, because neither ketchup nor koolaid is a convincing alternative for blood.

Cast - They’re atrociously untalented, with preposterous accents and absolutely no tangible emotion whatsoever.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Quick and the Undead! Click Here

Direction - It’s all over the way and disorganized.

Filming - Aside from one or two decent scenes, the whole thing gives off the feel of a high level high school AV club production.

Lighting - Dismal and amateur at best, there are scenes in which some color method is attempted, but it never accomplishes what the director wants. And I contemplate they fell in like with the color blue for some reason.

Makeup - Establish on by a blind transvestite.

Protagonist - A foul between a weather-beaten desperado who carries his gun in a guitar case, and a terrible man’s Hugh Jackman from Van Helsing

Settings - The settings are essentially someone’s backyard and one or two gross rent properties.

Zombies - Aside from the soundtrack, the zombies were the only redeemable aspect of the movie.

Pass on this one unless you want to become a zombie in the minute over an hour this movie will sap from your life.

The Lickety-split and the Undead is a spaghetti western with zombies instead of Indians. The movie starts our astronomical and is well-paced but drags towards the extinguish when the zombies maraud the house. The dialog is typical cowboy cheesy and the acting, while somewhat hackneyed and stilted serves its purpose well even though the characters are stereotypes. While this movie is certainly no masterpiece, it does attend and improve on the genre, so as zombie movies go, it’s quite top-notch. The zombies themselves are definitely Romero descended but aren’t quite the shambling corpses they started out as.

*Spoiler Alert*

The only right plight I have with this film is the hero is somehow immune to the Zombie Virus. WTF is up with that?

There are over a hundred reviews for The Aristocats as of this date. They all refer to the previous edition (Disney Gold Classic Edition or whatever they called it years ago when it first came out on dvd) .

So now we will have those reviews mixed up with original reviews for the Feb 5, 2008 version which offers more extras and a different aspect ratio. This may form things a bit confusing.

Moving on…

People compare this film to 101 Dalmations. This is Disney’s “cat” movie, they say. You can’t compare them; they’re too similiar somehow.

But they are both decent, cute family films.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Aristocats! Click Here

Yes, Cruella is scary compared to the bumbling butler Edgar. There is a sense of jeopardy but Dalmations is noteworthy stronger in that sense.

Both films were made using the 1960’s Xerox scheme where the resulting animation is more sketchy looking and more halt to the new animator’s drawings.

The Aristocats is more of a musical, definitely. A few forgettable songs, but also the charming and infectious tune “Everybody Wants to Be a Cat”. That is the tune I believe of when I remember the adventures of Duchess and Thomas and the kittens. (101 Dalmations had the slight “Cruella De VIl” song, but that’s it.)

Overall this is a fun vehicle but it is not a classic such as Peter Pan, Cinderella, or Lady and the Tramp. It has a nice, relaxing dawdle and is probably most animated to youngsters. The boom talent, as ever with Disney cartoon features, is substantial. Eva Gabor’s Duchess is warm and maternal while Phil Harris as Thomas O’Malley is macho yet sweet (and sounds like a lifelong diehard smoker) . He also lent his vocal prowess to The Jungle Book when he played Baloo the gain.

This special edition for 2008 has some cute extras. But unless you’re a total stickler for aspect ratios or you score every version they release, the previous edition should suffice. It was gorgeous, with a distinct and shiny picture/sound presentation.

I’m so gratified that Disney made this film. I considerable occupy the more innocent Disney movies of the past. Movies like Lady and the Tramp and The Aristocats are truly fun, wholesome entertainment. Don’t win me started on the fresh Disney films which are method too enthusiastic in pushing hit pop songs and attracting adults with more action, violence, and suggestive dialogue. I know things can’t quit the same so I’m cheerful we have this film from a more innocent era. I particularly like the fact that the pacing is relaxed and the villain is not very scary. I’m always looking for what I call “smooth” movies and videos for my 2 and a half year obsolete. I don’t want him seeing plain or fast-paced images. Lady and the Tramp and Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas are other big shows for young viewers. Unlike the sterile environment of the Teletubbies, these movies are pudgy of incredible images and arresting music. I earn the backdrop drawings extremely appealing and stylized. I also like the setting of the film (France) as opposed to the mainly exotic locations lately of Disney films.

Although portion of the ample scale GARBO:THE SIGNATURE COLLECTION featuring 7 of her 1930’s films, THE GARBO SILENTS is available seperately for the peaceful film enthusiast or for those who don’t want to prefer the whole package. It joins the sets of Buster Keaton and Lon Chaney films released earlier by TCM Archives. As with those sets the production values are high, the extras plentiful, and the region offered at a reasonable sign considering what it contains.

Buy,Download, Or Stream TCM Archives - The Garbo Silents Collection! Click Here

I do however have a few issues with this original release. First up is the exclusion of the recent documentary GARBO from this site (it’s share of THE SIGNATURE COLLECTION) . It is listed as being included according to the TCM website but instead there’s a documentary on the modern rescoring of the movies by a group of young composers. While that is piquant and principal, the documentary on Garbo is more critical and would salvage more people to take the location. The packaging is annoying too with two of the three films presented on a double sided DVD (which can reach apart) although I allege it does withhold the notice down.

Then there’s the choice of films. I’m positive every Garbo fan has something to say about this. I would like to have seen WOMAN OF AFFAIRS included as I mediate that remains one of her very best silents with gorgeous work from a young Douglas Fairbanks Jr. I also wish that they could have frail the tinted print for THE MYSTERIOUS LADY that was worn for the VHS release since the quality of this print is no better than that one which had wound issues. The musical accompaniment for this edition is remarkable better than the faded release and overall it’s up to TCM’s high standards. While not the best of her silents FLESH AND THE DEVIL smooth remains electrifying thanks to the chemistry between her and John Gilbert and the aesthetic photography of William Daniels. THE MYSTERIOUS LADY is fun with the courtmartial scene a standout and Garbo a knockout in every frame. THE TEMPTRESS gives us a observe at Garbo at the begin of her American career. Perhaps these films were chosen because she has a different leading man in each one or to give Garbo fans something to argue about. Who knows?

Buy,Download, Or Stream TCM Archives - The Garbo Silents Collection! Click Here

Nevertheless it’s sizable to have Garbo relieve where she belongs, up there on the silver cloak (even if its a lot smaller and not nearly as silver as it traditional to be) . Thanks to TCM Archives for once again bringing us the trustworthy stuff from the M-G-M vaults. Hold it coming Warner Home Video. First Chaney, then Keaton and now Garbo. What’s next? How about the Lillian Gish Collection (THE SCARLET LETTER, LA BOHEME, THE WIND) or the Tod Browning Collection (THE Display, WEST OF ZANZIBAR, FREAKS) . Impartial a plan.

I had been waiting for some of the gradual peaceful era’s best films to be released on DVD, in particular those with Greta Garbo, and while hoping that there would be more, I’m collected very contented with the 3 Garbo films in this area. The recount quality of “The Mysterious Lady” is not mighty better than my worn VHS, but apart from this, I’m very jubilant with the overall quality on these discs, particularly the astonishing musical scores for each one, some current and inventive photo montages and other special features. Anyone keen in music would probably also win the half-hour documentary “Settling the Procure” an unexpected and rewarding highlight, as I did. It depicts the TCM Young Film Composers Competition, some work from each entrant and how the final get for “The Temptress” was done. It helped me salvage a lot more insight into this moving and enthralling work, and it left me with a noteworthy deeper appreciation and respect for reliable quiet film scores.

No doubt everyone has one or more Garbo favourites, and perhaps TCM had pain deciding which ones to include in this region. For some distinguished emotional drama, “Flesh and the Devil” is probably one of the best and a advantageous choice, especially as it features the two biggest stars of the time who were drawing mountainous audiences: Garbo and John Gilbert. For a fancy yarn with espionage and suspense, it doesn’t derive grand better than “The Mysterious Lady”, and finally, “The Temptress” shows an involving angle on Garbo’s character. Her sensuous and alluring beauty brings men’s lives to raze, but she is unaware of any wrong-doing on her possess part; and in fact, when she does gawk what problems she has unintentionally caused, she ends up a pathetic alcoholic on the streets of Paris, making one last sacrifice out of esteem. This myth intrigued me the most, in fact, as it has some depth and an angle that might not be so definite at first. There is also an alternative joyful ending which was shown to other audiences; also an curious point to believe. Each film on these discs has an optional commentary by 3 different experts, covering all kinds of background information, some gossip and other insights to give a more in-depth and complete narrate of Garbo and these three particular films. No doubt there’s something for everyone here, both for restful and general film or Garbo fans alike.

I happened to ogle this on television a few years encourage (and taped it at the same time) . I was suprised to leer a fresh, wonderfully droll Christmas program done in the “Jimmy Neutron-style” of computer animation (same writer and producer as Jimmy) . A snowman decides that he wants to be like Santa and hilarity ensues. The program features a improbable voice-cameo of Ben Stein as a North Pole tour guide. The narration is provided by the deep-voiced announcer who is the deliver leisurely many movie trailers. There are many comic touches throughout the prove including allusions to Star Wars and more. The tale concludes with a obvious fair that wraps it up beautifully. This deserves a dwelling in your classics of Christmas collection - mine sits just next to Rudolph!

I saw this flick the first time in 3D in the IMAX theater. Let me mumble you, the graphics were no less than delicate. The movie starts out very sweet and cute… but soon shifts-gears to issue a hysterical account with some big satire… some laugh-out-loud one-liners and clever references to other movies! With voices by Jonathan Winters, Victoria Jackson and Ben Stein, this is a fun movie for all ages. At the ruin of the movie, the “outtakes” are very fun too.

I was so indignant to hear that this was coming out on DVD, I had to recall it immediately. Though the movie was tranquil impartial as fun, I must admit I was a bit disappointed with the 3D effects on a television. Piece of the scrape is they employ the faded red-blue 3D glasses, which really detract from the rich colors of the film… making it seem almost sunless & white. (In the IMAX theater, they ragged the gray 3D glasses which allowed mighty better do and kept the colors more knowing.)

I was also disappointed to gawk no exact Extra features… no director’s commentary or behind-the-scenes or anything. All they had were a couple of simple interactive games, which became wearisome after about 20 seconds.

I have seen so many films about the Harlem Renaissance, I was beginning to mediate that there was no film that both captured and explained the history of the period and also made learning fun for students. As a teacher, I utilize this DVD with my 12 and 13 year aged students. The chunky versions of songs on the bonus section of the DVD shows the power that visual and audio images can have and had plan before MTV. For the note and quality, this is a must have for educators, and a joy for historians and music lovers in general.

It is certainly hard to accept films in jazz from this time period, so this collection is a very primary one. The quality of the recordings are improbable considering their age, and the representations of the music/musicians sometimes surprising, even for those who see jazz culture.

Although the commentary may not give you worthy information beyond an introductory level, being able to stare jazz performance is something which simply reading about the period can’t compare to. One thing to mention–though this DVD is entitled Harlem Renaissance, it seems like several of these films were produced after renaissance was considered to be over.

This glossy and sophisticated romp with Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward is scrumptious fluff. From the opening title song by Sinatra and the early voice-over of Newman comparing a group of bargain hunting women to a herd of cattle, we know this one is going to be fun indeed. Made in 1963 when both were at their finest, the chemistry between the two leads carries this film to execute it the most keen fraction of nonsense you’re likely to ever survey.

Samantha Blake (Woodward) buys, or steals, all the latest fashions from around the world for her department store. Her boss Joe Bergner (George Tobias) gets it into his head to go to Paris and ’steal’ the hottest fresh fashions and off goes Samantha and Leena (Thelma Ritter) to the City of Lights.

Steve Sherman (Paul Newman) is a columnist who gets caught playing with the wife of his boss and promptly gets sent far away to Paris until said boss can figure out a arrangement to smash his contract and fire him. He meets pal Harry (Marvin Kaplan) in Paris and decides to assign his job by writing about a Parisian ‘Lady of the Night’ and her escapades to send befriend home, which proves to be a broad hit!

Buy,Download, Or Stream A New Kind of Love! Click Here

The jam, of course, is she ain’t from Paris and she ain’t no ‘Lady of the Night.’ Samantha gets introduced as one in a con by Hogan’s Heroes Robert Clary to pick up a few bucks after Samantha has a complete makeover because she’s tired of being inaccurate for a boy! She goes along because it helps her quit conclude to Steve as she makes up one wild escapade after another.

Meanwhile, Leena is competing with Fellicienne (Eva Gabor) for the affection of her boss, who doesn’t seem to know she’s alive. Of course, Steve falls for this ‘Lady of the Night’ and wants to reform her for himself, until he figures it all out! Are you having fun yet? Yes, you are! That is what this film is about. A glowing cast charm their plot through this most delectable film.

The scenery is gargantuan to search for at and so are a young Woodward and Newman. Thelma Ritter and Marvin Kaplan offer nice befriend as well. When Steve and Harry go clubbing in Paris, Steve ends up with gorgeous Jan Moriarity, in a nice but dinky role. The wife of actor Michael Parks, it would be her moment to shine before tragedy took her away.

When you’re in the mood for some harmless fun this film will certainly do the trick. It’s a reminder that a honorable film sometimes doesn’t have to have any deeper meaning. Sometimes all a film has to do is entertain us. This one gets an A+ in that department and you’ll want to leer it the first chance you salvage.

Yes, this is fluff, but the stars, production values, and comedy are so favorable in this classic romance of two people who loathe each other finally falling in esteem, that it goes over beautifully. The first time I saw the film I was puzzled by its improbable stars being in such nonsense, but repeated viewings have made this one of my favorites; a valid “comfort-film.” The production values are not nonsense. Written and directed by Melville Shavelson, who apparently nick his teeth on Samuel Goldwyn productions starring Bob Hope and Danny Kaye, the comedy is ample. Moving digs are everywhere–commercials, journalism, the fashion industry, testeronic males, and politics (both international and sexual) . Visual comedy is spacious too, such as the split-screen mutual parody of the strip-tease and the fashion runway. Joanne Woodward’s being processed by the fashion industry is a hoot. Thelma Ritter–need I say more? –has her razor-sharp timing and delivery intact. Plus: the title song sung by Frank Sinatra over opening credits with jokes in them; Maurice Chevalier singing; Paul Newman doing a Chevalier impression; Mimi’s adventures occuring againt French impressionists backgrounds; and a lot of sex that is deliciously, blatantly SUGGESTED. The springtime colors of green and yellow predominate, from soccer and football fields to Sam’s blond wig. There’s even a sweet promenade of religion, from Sam’s name “being from the Bible,” to St. Katherine suggesting Sam go to Elizabeth Arden’s for a make-over, and finally Steve, who is falling in savor, admitting “I went to church last Sunday and you know? –it wasn’t awful at all.It might collect on.” I contemplate this movie should “acquire on” as well!
