Disney Princess- A Christmas Enchantment was fair that- an enchantment. My daughter who is 5 and a Disney Princess guru was not disappointed unlike many of the reviewers here. I don’t know quite what they expected, but this dvd is extraordinary for young Princesses in training. We are not D.P amateurs, this review is coming from a mother and daughter who have been to Disney Princesses on Ice, have all the Disney Princess movies, books and whatever else you can net. Many people are claiming how poor it was, but few are actually explaining why. I will define why it’s not poor as many have reach to consider.

The dvd opens with a magnificent substantial entrance which the viewer is a share of. You purchase your seat in the stout theater and inaugurate the slip with the Disney Princess’ version of 12 Days of Christmas. You are then taken through several stories and songs in which the Princesses describe, sprinkled with Primitive classic Disney Christmas cartoons. I did not glean any of these cartoons immoral for my 5 year ragged. In fact, she watched them over and over again. It’s gloomy to hear that the dilapidated cartoons are being labelled as filler or recycled material. Please remember that many of these Princesses are “worn”! Disney tried to acquire it delightful for both the child and the parent, and the nostalgic cartoons were a large bonus.

One of my daughter’s well-liked parts of the dvd was the intermission. During the intermission, you are taken to a menu cloak where you can settle a Princess to decorate a tree for. They give you choices for ornaments, tinsel and a tree topper based on the movie they appeared in. So not only are you decorating, but you are testing your Princess trivia skills. In the ruin, the trees glow and change color and the Princess whose tree was decorated sings a Christmas song for you.

The Princesses were very clearly a allotment of this dvd unlike what one reviewer says. They are the narrators and all of the games and activities are about them, and they do appear on the conceal. Fair witness the beginning of the dvd and you will glance them in the mountainous theater as well as throughout the dvd itself. I am very disappointed that so many reviewers are being so hard on this dvd. My daughter and I both cherish it and have watched it over and over again. It will definitely be something that she will have a memory of watching each Christmas.

Although it shouldn’t really be a immense surprise that Disney will spare no expense, unless they can assist it. Previous Disney releases are all based on recycled Material, all the Princess Stories are either episodes from the “Diminutive Mermaid” TV series, or Jasmine themed episodes of the “Aladdin” Television series, while all the fresh stories are usually fair scenes, either aloof or short fascinating scenes, from a movie starring that princess. Although this DVD does fill some unusual direct, two modern songs and modern “Animation” it’s basically all stuff that’s been available previously.

The “Original Animation” is hard to clarify, it’s stiff, repetitive, and listless, although some of the cahracters unusual voices are here, others sound substandard, the relate of Snow White sounds like Fran Drescher with her nose welded shut and singing in a room chunky of helium. Meanwhile, the “Recent Songs” are played with scenes from each princesses movie.

Stories Include “the Steadfast Tin Soldier” - taken from Fantasia 2000

“Aurora’s Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy”- which honest uses Aurora’s dancing from “Sleeping Beauty”- over and over and over-

“Belle’s Enchanted Christmas” is justa condensed version of “Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas” but leaves out the villian, and most of the storyline.

“A Merry Mermaid Christmas” unprejudiced has Ariel narrating “Ariel’s Undersea Christmas”- which is a account that was available in a “Storybook with Tape” place in the early nineties-

The rest of the stories are either classic Diney cartoons, or music played out with scenes from Disney films.

It’s shaded that Disney would trade their integrity for a snappily buck out of the pockets of minute girls, Dinsey and Dinsey princess fans.

I would impart that if you HAVE to spy this movie, borrow it from a friend, it;s not even worht the rental money. It’s sunless to perceive so many classic Dinsey characters cheapened by such a shotty release from a company that exudes creaticity and achievement. Unless you’re a die hard Princess fan, or have to have every Disney DVD out there, don’t even deem about wasting the money, you’ll only be hugely dissapointed.

Phantom Planet is a generally-overlooked but thoroughly exquisite cleave of early-60s SF cheese. Not really noble enough to be a “genuine movie,” not really abominable enough to conclude Trash status; but I could survey this one every six months without getting tired of it. Dean Fredericks in the lead makes a quite unappealing, unsympathetic `hero,’ lending a unusual atmosphere to the movie moral off the bat. Francis X. Bushman (the quiet Ben Hur) and Anthony Dexter (fallen far from 1951’s Valentino) lend kitsch appeal, and Coleen Gray and Dolores Faith, as the `mute girl,’ provide potential care for interest for drippy Fredericks. If you peek this with the mindset of a 10-year-old there’s lots of fun and clever ideas and effects: the apprehensive thing, passable outer space/rocketship sequences, the disintegrator floor panels and duel of death, the flaming Solarite death ships, etc. And the murky sack monster, played by clumsy giant-for-hire Richard Kiel (`Jaws’), has to be one of the most lovably moth-eaten, pathetically unthreatening creations to grace any B-flick; kind of Paul Blaisdell-meets-Harry Thomas at the thrift store. You could probably suspend your disbelief and really delight in this movie on a comical book level, or have a few friends over and laugh yourselves laughable. Highly recommended.

For long-time fans of this movie, Image’s DVD delivers a comely print of the film: piquant and detailed, stout tonal scale, virtually spotless put for some very light speckling and a rare blemished frame. You’ll never need to exertion about upgrading from this one. It blows my VHS TV prints true off the method. Unfortunately, there is no trailer for the feature, and the only other `extra’ is the chapter stops. There are five trailers included in an `easter egg,’ but they’re the same ones as on every other Image release. Considering all the movies in their catalog, they could dish out a few unique ones already! A minor gripe though, and if you esteem this movie you’ll want this disc anyway.

I honest watched this yesterday, with very outrageous expectations, and was beautiful surprised at how edifying it was. Definitely worth viewing, esp if you can track it down on a multi-movie plot. (The transfer old in Mill Creek’s Sci-Fi Classics box plot is objective blooming.)

Others have talked about the account and the acting, but I want to mention is the non-stop spend of special effects. Positive, they’re hokey, but they retain coming, and that’s what keeps your (or at least my) interest. There’s the ping-pong-table Moon nefarious, complete with whirling radar dish; plenty of spaceship shots, a station glide, meteor shower, invisible asteroid, skittish astronaut/tiny people, Rock of Oblivion… and that’s not even mentioning the monster. I don’t consider 3 minutes pass by in this movie without some “special enact” or other. That makes for shapely fun, sharp viewing, in my understanding.

Also, you can practically count the future Star Lumber episodes… The one with the hollow asteroid traveling across situation… The one where Kirk and Spock purchase in mortal combat… The one where the girl falls for Kirk. (Oh wait, that’s all of them.) And so on. Even the Rock of Oblivion acts suspiciously like the transporter, site on one-way of course.

All in all this is a fun film that rarely flags, perfect for a rainy weekend afternoon.

When I saw the promos for this movie before it was released in theatres, I knew that I would really like this movie! It’s a movie that has a lot to offer. A stellar cast, attractive storyline, drama, comedy and everything in between. It deals with the dynamics of four guys and their struggles with relationships from being single to being married. On the DVD side of things, this movie is engaging enough to be able to study over & over again, and not collect tired of it. This is the most significant thing when actually buying & not renting a movie.

If you like movies that deal with interpersonal dynamics with a cramped humour & drama thrown in, this movie will definitely not disappoint.

This movie was one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. I was very grand contented with this one. Especially seeing Shemar breaking out of the Soap Opera’s and into the movies, showing his lawful talent. This movie definitly will be coming home to me and taking a situation upright along side my other approved movies “The Wood”, and “The Best Man”.

This is a fantastic feeble film, one of Hitchcock’s most terse. Terrific acting, simple natty spot but Bad DVD transfer; grainy image and very thin audio. Avoid this until someone releases a better print. So far so dreadful with the HITCHCOCK COLLECTION.

Released in 1936, SABOTAGE is a first class example of what makes Alfred hitchcock the master of suspense. As a die hard fan of Hitchcock, I will admit that I originally bought this film on the bargain shelf to complete my collection. After one viewing I had an novel common Hitchcock film. The residence is simple…London is being hit with acts of sabotage and the police suspect the owner of a miniature movie theater is responsible.An undercover agent tries to accept information from the mans unsuspecting wife. The dwelling may be simple but the complex emotions that are revealed as the legend progresses are not. Sylvia Sydney is outstanding as the wife and does an outstanding job in her portrayal of a woman whos entire world is crumbling around her, and she often does it without uttering a single word. Hitchcock is known for the style of his movies and trust me, this movie is one of his most stylish. Student filmmakers should be required to survey this movie to learn how to produce suspense and intrigue. If you have ever seen and loved a Hitchcock movie, watching this movie will display that his modern sense of emotion and humor was fully intact even in his earlier films. I will waste this by fair saying…View this movie.

Why? Because I knew because of this we were finally gonna glean the modern Stepfather on DVD. This movie for me was one of those rare times I came home gradual assign on cable an caught the opening scene without smart what this movie was called or what it was about. Isn’t that tremendous when that happens? Your thinking what is this? Then he walked down those stairs passed the bodies and blood and out the door, I was glued to my TV from that moment on. This has been one of my favorites ever since. You know what else is fabulous about this movie, the cinematography,the search for and feel of this report. The neighborhood,the tumble,the leaves,trees, the homes the street the lighting. I wish this were coming out on Blu Ray, hey maybe.

Till this day no matter how many times I’ve seen it I calm find soooo humorously annoyed with JIM OGILVIE. He does this amazing job of tracking Jerry down. He knows the damn house he lives in now, walks in the door with his gun in his pocket lol and then is terrorized to stare him with blood on him.

What a boob! That and the sound of the phone hitting Shelly Hacks face quiet makes me cringe. Tall writing, tremendous directing, and extraordinary acting,this film is scary yet so warm and intelligent. You actually feel sorry for this lunatic. Must Have!

I’m splendid determined I’m with everyone else, on this page, when I say it’s about time!

I’m a titanic scarry movie fan, and I must admit, I’m a bit partial to the older films, than most of what comes out today.

That being said, If your seeking a loyal fable of fear, this is your movie. It’s humorous, everytime you rep together with people & talk about scarry movies, “The Stepfather” is either always the last one mentioned, or not mentioned at all; and I can’t, for the life of me, understand why.

It’s an new legend, not like other scarry movies where the storyline is being obsolete for the 100th time. This movie has everything you could want in a awe film. It has the honest elements of atmosphere, music,suspense, character development, and impartial the good amount of the red stuff . . . without going overboard! I haven’t seen many films that actually bring these key elements together objective legal, and this one does it suitable. There are a couple of comic moments, as is usual, but for the most fraction, this film is shadowy, serious, and means business.

Maybe that’s it, maybe it’s to exact for people to obtain.

I promise,when watching this one, you will not be leaving in the middle of the film for extra soda & popcorn!

Okay, Season 3 was superior and Season 4 was even better. Now here near thirteen more episodes. If you like your Batman integrated into the wider DC superhero universe, then Season 5 will be hog heaven (but don’t gather it twisted; THE BATMAN is not at all placed in the same continuity as the shows in Bruce Timm’s DC Entertaining Universe) . This fifth season finds a darknight detective even more amenable to teamwork, although that’s not to say he’s all of a sudden the life of the party. Dude collected broods muchly and cloaks himself in mystery and intimidation; that’s honest how he rolls. But, continuing the trend begun in Season 4, Season 5 showcases members of the Justice League. The two episode arc “The Batman/Superman Tale” kicks it off by teaming up the World’s Finest, Batman and Superman, in a nifty tale featuring a whole gang of supervillains and the Bat going up against the Man of Steel. I guess it’s appropriate that the season (and the series) would halt with the two-part “Lost Heroes,” a big-scale Justice League adventure.

Animated shows don’t score a lot of accelerate nowadays, do they? THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES though-provoking series objective got the axe. And, yes, horribly, this is the last season in THE BATMAN series, so all the more reason to be pleased this one. The best piece is Batman and Robin teaming up with various of the Justice League. Robin’s awed reactions to meeting these other heroes are priceless. One downside to so many spotlights on the JLA is that less time is given to the Bat family. I miss Batgirl and her sarcasm; here, she’s relegated to less face time. We do learn that time hasn’t been standing level-headed for Barbara Gordon as she’s now feeble enough to benefit college (”Attack of the Bad Trio”) . Speaking of the Bat fam, there’s a sighting of Nightwing; unfortunately, he’s a character in an Internet game (”The Metal Face of Comedy”) . The obedient news is that Bat Mite doesn’t indicate up at all.

Regarding the storytelling and the visuals, I don’t absorb Season 5 to be better than the prior two seasons, which are very capable. THE BATMAN was always intended for the younger status of kids, so the stories here aren’t as sunless or psychological or as thematically layered as those in, say, BATMAN: THE Interesting SERIES. Should this season salvage more favor with the viewers, it’ll be because of its glittering star power. And if the driving theme song reminds one a bit of Hawaii Five-O, well, that’s not such a unpleasant thing, is it?

I can’t envision a future in which there isn’t an ongoing Batman absorbing series. Hopefully, the powers that be can dust off Kevin Conroy to do what he does best.

In the meantime, here are the 13 episodes of Season 5 (sign that, depending on the reader, the following might acquire some minor place SPOILERS) :

- Episode 6 - “Joker Grunt” - Rep on board the Cuckoo Choo Choo. An outbreak of “giggle bandits” sweeping Gotham could only mean the return of the Joker.

- Episode 7 - “Ring Toss” - With Sinestro taking Hal Jordan out of action, the Green Lantern power ring ends up in the clutches of the Penguin.

- Episode 8 - “The Metal Face of Comedy” - A Joker henchman’s invention leads to the formation of a digital Clown Prince of Crime.

- Episode 9 - “Attack of the Poor Trio” - Thanks to Dr. Kirk Langstrom’s mutagens, three college outcasts mutate into beasts and recede to earn their revenge on those what done them atrocious. Also, Batgirl’s a college freshman.

- Episode 10 - “The Slay of the Batman” - Gotham’s criminal element gets its acquire costumed champions: Wrath and Scorn, who seem to have a personal grudge against the Dynamic Duo.

- Episode 11 - “What Goes Up…” - A gravity-defying episode as Shadowy Shroud escapes with the wait on of the Shadow Thief, and the pair goes after a Thanagarian meteorite. Can a clear winged Thanagarian lawman be too far leisurely?

The Dismal Knight welcomes the Justice League to Gotham City in “The Batman: The Complete Fifth Season”. As the mysterious crime fighter Batman, young industrialist Bruce Wayne has dedicated his life to protect Gotham City from such unsafe rogues like Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman and Mr. Freeze, but now he must test his courage and skills along side Earth’s greatest superheroes. In this action-packed season, Batman joins the Justice League and teams up with Superman, Green Arrow, the Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman and Martian Manhunter against such villains like Lex Luthor, Mirror Master, Count Vertigo and more. “The Batman” is the Emmy Award-winning racy series based on the DC Droll hero created by artists Bob Kane and Bill Finger. The engrossing series maintains faithful to the silly books. The animation style and character designs are certainly different than previous television shows. The fifth and final season offers plenty of amusement and features guest stammer stars like George Newbern, Dana Delany, Louise Gossett Jr., John Larroquette, Dermot Mulroney, Miguel Ferrer and Robert Patrick.

“The Batman: The Complete Fifth Season” offers a grand DVD presentation at an affordable retail sign. All 13 action-packed episodes of the final season are presented in their unusual pudgy cloak broadcast format. Like the previous season sets, the relate quality is really worthy and its 2.0 Dolby Digital sound certainly gets the job done. Its only special features are “Joining Forces: The Batman’s Legendary Team-Ups” (9 minutes) and “The Batman: Justice League Profiles” (12 minutes) featurettes and trailers of other Warner Brother DVD releases and “Rush Racer” video game. Despite the lack of solid bonus features, “The Batman: The Complete Fifth Season” earns a “B”.

I am a mammoth student of the English Civil War and found this movie to be, overall, very intriguing despite fair a few historical inaccuracies such as Oliver Cromwell being one of the five Parliament memebers that Charles I personally came to arrest ( Cromwell wasnt one of the five ) . The costumes, stage sets and battle scenes, especially the cavalry charges, were without equal. A lot of the musical bag was fitting and added to the atmosphere of the film. I dont fill that Harris’s portrayal of Cromwell was uninspiring as previous reviewers have suggested. Cromwell, according to some historical sources, was a deep believer in freedom, both religious and private property, hence the films early reference about Cromwell leaving England for America. Cromwell was simply not known, historically, to have used his emotions on his sleeve. Timothy Dalton’s Prince Rupert was elegant. Alec Guiness certainly looked like Charles I. Truthfully, most of the actors fairly resembled their characters.

I know this film was made for mass audiences and thus needed star name appeal to sell it. But it is too poor that this most fascinating period of history could not have been portrayed in a miniseries (in the procedure Glenda Jackson’s ELIZABETH R was) with all the same actors. That intention, other central characters such as Charles I, Thomas Wentworh the Earl of Strafford, Parliamentary leader John Pym and others could have been developed more fully because they are honest as enchanting as Cromwell. Not to mention the decade or so long struggle between Parliament and Crown that led up to the Civil War and Thomas Wentworths treachery by going from Parliaments greatest champion to being Charles I suitable hand man thus earning Parliaments unending enmity. Lots of grand storyline potential there.

Yes, it is too awful it was not made as a miniseries because so noteworthy dramatic history was left out. This film gem was unfortunately to brief. But I liked it alot!

Before I obtained this DVD situation, I had high expectations. I had seen some of the Mickey Mouse In Living Color location, and was enthrolled at the fair color and clearity of the pictures. Not to mention sound with no pronounce or other pollutants. The Laughable Symphony DVD region did not disappoint.

It is not my intent to author a history of Disney animation. However, a few facts will lead to a greater appreciation of this dwelling. Disney started in the 20’s with a character named Alice, that later developed into Mickey Mouse. Cartoons were all in b/w, and animation not as refined as in the 30s and 40s. From 1924 through 1926, Disney produced only Alice shorts. (Now THERE would be some exact TREASURES if Disney ever released these toons! They’ve never been released commercially!) In 1927 and 28, Disney changed his considerable character to Oswald, the Lucky Rabbit. These have also never been released. As 1929 drew to a halt, other studios began releasing musical shorts - remember that sound with image only began in 1927 - and Walt was under pressure to create a fresh product for theaters. One with color and sound. The Funny Symphony was born. Essentially, that’s what Comical Symphonies are. They are a cartoon yarn to a musical soundtrack with almost no dialogue or verbal exchange.

The first Funny Symphonies were still of simple themes - in fact, there were a situation produced that dealt only with the seasons: Springtime and Summer came out in 1930, Drop and Winter came out in 1931. Other titles were Arctic Antics, Frolicking Fish and Monkey Melodies. The animation was nice, but the themes were simple. In 1931 as audiences tired of these simple themes, Disney had to effect something novel again, so began the fairy myth editions of Funny Symphonies. Some of these ended up being the studio’s best work! By the mid 30’s Disney was also doing purely artistic shorts which were somewhat abstract, culminating in a short, not on the DVD, (ouch!) called Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Deny, about musical instruments coming to life in a totally Salvador Dali-like surreal backdrop.

The Disney Treasures DVD focuses on several academy award winners (such as The Used Mill) and the fairy tale/story based Comical Symphonies. Many of Disney’s finest efforts are included, such as the Tortoise and the Hare, The Grasshopper and the Ants, Three Small Pigs, 1929’s Skeleton Dance, Flowers and Trees, Woodland Cafe, Music Land, and Disney’s most lavish Symphony, Wynken Blynken and Nod. The color is grand, the sound equally impressive. Many of these shorts were previously released on Disney’s VHS line called “Tiny Editions Gold” series 1 and 2 in the tedious 80’s. (each series was 6 tapes) . In fact, that line contains many SS shorts not on the DVD. However, the DVD does have some 35 different SS shorts on it. Many have introductions by the host of the series, Leonard Maltin. (Stamp! Many also have intros by Walt Disney - but they are hidden as Easter Eggs! You’ll have to search for those Easter Eggs to catch Walt’s commentary!)

All in all, this is a incredible package for SS fans, with a nice selection of the Droll Symphony shorts (35 shorts are on the DVD, 36 are not) with subjects to please adults and children alike, beautiful color and sound, and very radiant packaging. Plus you accept a itsy-bitsy 6×8 “card” of collectible poster art in the box. If you admire 30’s animation and especially Disney’s, you can’t go wicked with this dwelling of DVDs.

(Now, I HAVE to mention one thing. Although the selections on the DVDs are enormous, I wish they would have made this a 4 disk space, and place ALL 71 SS shorts on DVD at one time. There are some shorts that truly deserved to be on this DVD position, such as The Moth and the Flame, the four “Seasons” shorts, Three Blind Mouseketeers (a precursor to the Mickey Mouse Club!), Goddess of Spring, and certainly Toot, Whistle at el. I guess these are being held for Volume II at some point, but it would have been nice to not have quite as distinguished commentary from Leonard, and more of the shorts instead. No offense Leonard.)

All in all, I give this distress 4 out of 5 stars. Net this DVD, you won’t regret it and you’ll like it for years!

Whatever the outcome of Disney’s original copyright entangles you cannot argue that the company doesn’t grasp care of it’s property.

I doubt you can get better quality prints of any films dating benefit over 70 years - 99% of them see price current. There are some amazing classics on the disc, along with many Amusing Symphonies I had never seen. Obedient to perceive some of the dismal and white cartoons aswell! Also, I haven’t encountered a disc with so many “easter eggs” before, it’s always nice to gain free stuff!

The only minor points (or major points depending on your point of concept) are the following. Firstly, although the many Maltin documentaries included are fairly inviting and informative I doubt I will ever return to them. It may be nit-picking, but I would have preferred a couple more cartoons in their dwelling. (Perhaps some of the early peaceful Disney “Laugh-o-grams” cartoons on which many of the ideas for the Symphonies were first based) .

Secondly, Disney publicity claims the disc is UNCUT, whilst many of the films have reissue titles (a minor point, but one which is not referred to) and The Three Microscopic Pigs is composed presented in it’s 1940s censored version. (Although we do peruse a diminutive clip of the novel censored material Maltin talks over it - it’s not presented as piece of a whole cartoon - therefore is tranquil esentially “censored”) .

As I said, probably minor points - Disney should mild be applauded for the disc. I would have liked, however, to have seen interviews or heard commentaries from survivng Disney animators. They won’t be around forever.

Perhaps other companies who maintain classic Hollywood animation to ransom should hold label, and inaugurate releasing uncut, uncensored DVDs to the adult market - a market which accepts these films for what they are, accurate art forms of the 20th Century.

It’s unfamiliar the things that collect stuck in your memory. I never belief of this as an disagreeable film fair because the formula separates itself from the RKO depression-era 30’s (the film was made in 1949), though I seem to be hearing this a lot from critics. In fact, when I first saw the dance of ‘They Can’t Prefer That Away from Me,’ I actually belief it was a performance from a TV special, not a movie. The performance is an present, not a worship scene. There’s something almost- I don’t know- *cold* about the draw they recede on that bare, heavily draped, stage. It’s also the first and only adagio they accomplish in color- which, in itself has a sense of an era ending. Nevertheless, they have the same emotional connection to each other, and at the ages of 38 and 50 respectively, they peaceful carry off the grace and elegance. When they hasten off the stage, an inflamed audience breaks into applause- like they’ve been watching an act from THE ED SULLIVAN Exhibit. It’s extrordinary that ten years after Rogers remade herself doing straight award-winning drama and Astaire remade himself as a solo performer and a man who could dance with fair about anyone, they could choose aid into one more film and not have one strain of foot or hair out of set. MGM formula and Oscar Levant aside, it’s a very nice contrivance to extinguish a professional marriage.

I am a vast fan of the aged MGM musicals and have been more that cheerful with the restoration quality on every DVD transfer issued by Warners in the MGM library. The release of the “Dream Factory” collection is a comely example. These films could have been photographed yesterday (”Summer Stock” is a pure delight to inspect in terms of narrate quality) . “Barkleys of B’way” unfortnately does not live of to the exceptional quality acheived on other films of this genre.

The DVD report quality is very bad and tiring, and the sound is very muted. I was so dissappointed in this treatment. The DVD appears to have simply transfered the Video to DVD. No restoration to the record is at all apparent. Even the trailer looks better than the movie.

The extras are ravishing and I can’t complain here but hey Warners, what were you thinking when you tackled this gem. Someone must have been taking a sickie!
