Like a lot of kids of my generation, I grew up anticipating every modern Well-kept Mario Bros. game. And like a few other people in the country, I went to explore the movie when it came out in theaters. I was almost 15 at the time, but I actually liked the movie.

Nowadays, it doesn’t stand up. It bombed at the box office, is the source of constant scorn, and is often blamed for starting the “movies based off of video games always suck” phenomenon.

But to be quite unprejudiced, this isn’t a dreadful film. If you were to inspect it objectively, you’ll probably accumulate something in it to relish. Definite, to originate with, the casting is off. Though I judge John Leguizamo is worthy of unprejudiced about anything (he’s played a stout, demonic clown, a character in Romeo and Juliet, a midget, a charismatic boxer, and a sneaky gangster (Benny Blanco from the Bronx!!) . His roles have been met with mixed reviews, but say what you will, the guy has range. But here he is playing the taller, mustached Italian brother of the most distinguished plumber around, yet he’s shorter, no mustache, and not at all Italian. Bob Hoskins being british doesn’t do mountainous for Mario either.

Someone else mentioned that the dinosaur adversary of the game, King Koopa, is played here as a sleazy, grand businessman. Yes, this is peculiar as well. Advance to mediate of it, a lot of this stuff is unbiased dull bizarre. But therein lies the dilemma.

Super Mario Bros, when taken at its most serious, is a game about a plumber who travels through pipes, beats up turtles with fireballs that he gets from a flower, and hits invisible blocks in the sky all while romping around in the mushroom kingdom while attempting to establish a woman named Princess Toadstool. So, how would you film a region such as this?

The filmmakers tried. They really did. And in my idea, they came up with quite an intruiging world. Somewhere in between Blade Runner and Twin Peaks, the world in this film is flashy, incandescent, populated with lots of odd creatures, and almost always with something novel or bright to eye at. That it’s packaged inside this unfamiliar film is disappointing.

But that, again, is almost impossible to avoid. Some may argue that this film should’ve impartial played it straight, such as Mortal Kombat- meaning that the things in this film fair are. You derive them, their rules and parameters, or you don’t. Partly where SMB fails is in trying to construct the completely absurd world of the videogame into something acceptable. Witness, this mushroom kingdom is fair an alternate reality, where time flows differently and where prehistoric creatures hump about. Wouldn’t you know it, two hapless plumbers stumble in, and boom- now we have a reason to score the premise of the game.

Sure there’s lots to complain about. This movie is very funny. But at the same time, I can respect what they tried to do. Dennis Hopper as Koopa is an inspired choice, since he’s such a (expletive) all the time anyway. To gawk him hasten around, firing guns at everything while screaming “PLUMBERS!!!!!” is a hoot, akin to his freakout at the kill of the (more) bizarre Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.

That’s the thing. You have to unbiased accumulate this movie for what it is- tongue in cheek, self-aware goofiness. The movie doesn’t try to be popular as a serious entry into the medium of high art, it’s fair a comical poke into this land populated by characters who are in a video game that was, at the time, 8 years passe. And in my view, there’s lots for fans of the game to scrutinize for. Many references are there, from definite things such as the dinosaur character Yoshi (who is played straight, strangely enough) to noteworthy more obscure references such as the character “Broad Bertha”, who was a fish in SMB3 but here a tall african american woman who holds a key central to the status. Yes, it’s exclusive. But I mean approach on, the game’s far out to commence with. This movie may very well have been better served as a say play on the game, such as the successful cartoon series. But instead, we’re left with a sort of “alternate seize”, a slightly more adult and realistic one, on the Dapper mario landscape. Many concept it as a complete failure, and I can easily gaze why. But for myself, I assume it’s no worse than any number of video game movies (and better in some cases, such as the film rape of the Resident Detestable games) .

In Trim Mario Brothers, there’s a lot to fabricate you groan or wish better upon the participants. But if you unprejudiced collect that the premise of the game is so thin to initiate with, and then unbiased bag the movie as a helpful attempt to breathe life and character into this game world, I assume at the very least you can procure a recent respect for what the movie is.

Most people tend to disfavor this film. I judge, though, that they despise it because they’re looking at it the depraved map. It’s one of those movies that has a point, and if you miss that, you don’t regain any of it.

Their mistake is to study this expecting a Mario movie. I know, it sounds like the factual thing to ask, but hear me out. Fans of the game know what Mario is all about - powerups, inflamed mushrooms, winged turtles and flying blocks. If you sight this movie expecting that, you’ll be disappointed, as you’ll score NONE of it. But that’s not to say it isn’t worth watching.

Picture the scene: a couple of directors are asked to build a Mario movie by Nintendo, and they want it to be live action. That was the flavour at the time - pick cartoon characters and effect them dependable. Now, these directors know about Mario. They say “No arrangement can that be done. Mario is all about being a cartoon. Jumping on cramped indignant animals, everyone’s a mushroom… It’s a vast game, and it’d build a suitable cartoon, but a live action version would fair be moronic.” “Oh, don’t wretchedness about that,” says Nintendo, “unprejudiced so long as you acquire the main elements in, do it how you want.”

The directors go away, rubbing their chins, trying to deem of a intention to do that but tranquil do justice to the games. And then they have a animated opinion.

What if they don’t do a Mario film, exactly. What if they do a sci-fi film, but occupy it to the brim with Mario references, for the keen-eyed game fans?

That’s what this movie is. If you witness it with that in mind, you will luxuriate in it. I’ve tested this theory out already on a friend who understanding the film was a bit wearisome when he saw it as a kid, but watched it yesterday with my petite thesis in mind and he loved it.

What you gather here is a quite serious (despite the light-hearted script) sci-fi flick about the nightmarish world ours may soon become: crowded, filthy, choked with pollution and overrun with a hate-filled populace who will fight you, roar at you, even try to shoot you if you pass too finish. Rush by a demonic well-dressed dictator politician (played to incredible finish by Dennis Hopper) who has let this world become the shaded apprehension it is through neglect: there is no water any more, only sludge, and a slimy infestation of fungus has grown over everything, draped in tall loops like one tall, chaotic spider web. Into this world advance Mario and Luigi, similar to their game counterparts but more human, a pair of plumber brothers from Brooklyn who grew up together as orphans. They are trying to establish a girl, who has been kidnapped and dragged here, and along the blueprint they gain wrapped up in something really horrifying: the president and his people are human, but human descended from dinosaurs instead of apes. He’s found a procedure to revert his citizens benefit to their prehistoric roots, and with his army of lizard lackeys he’s going to bridge the split between worlds (that formed when the meteorite that “killed” the dinosaurs hit) and grasp over our fill.

And through all this we rep references of the sort that Mario’s biggest fans will drool over, so long as they are watching this in the design I suggest. These point to that the film has been build together not by someone ignorant of the games, but by someone very well versed in their lore. A big woman called Stout Bertha, dressed all in red, is named in reference to a spacious red fish enemy from Mario 3. She wears mechanical boots named “Thwomp-Stompers”, after the classic ice block enemies, and they are powered by capsules that watch exactly like Bullet Bills, from Shipshape Mario Bros 1. Shops are apparently owned by people with the same names as characters from the games (Hammer Bros and Bullet Bill), a exclaim singer is named after Toad, the cheerful miniature mushroom from the games, but his hair is shaved into the pattern on the shell of Lakitu, a fan favourite since day one. These references go on throughout the film and shape its world - the fungus, which turns out to be a conscious entity, helps the brothers in every blueprint it can; they are saved on more than one occasion by mushrooms, in what has become a literal mushroom kingdom.

It’s all in here if you hold your eyes peeled. Go in ready to behold not a Mario film, but a film that references Mario, and you will fancy it. It doesn’t “change” anything from the games, because it is not any kind of filmed version of them, but it nods to them constantly.

Viewed in this light, it is a treat to gawk, and a rare treat, because no other film has ever crammed in so many references to videogaming before. Simply establish, a live action Mario film could never be made, and the directors asked to construct one did a luminous job at trying something recent and unique. Well worth the ten dollars for the DVD.

“Sin Nombre” is a unbelievable debut for Cary Joji Fukunaga - an chronicle about all the harrowing obstacles that illegal immigrants from Central America face before they ever even arrive the U.S. border, if they even beget it that far. You can luxuriate in this movie whatever your politics because it’s refreshingly free of preaching and lectures and messages. I’m against illegal immigration but I peaceful got caught up in it on an emotional level. Fukunaga simply presents a straightforward epic concerning Sayra, a Honduran girl about 15 y/o and Willy, a Mexican boy a dinky older, maybe 17 y/o. The viewer is left to arrangement his or her hold personal conclusions regarding the Titanic Describe of illegal immigration and Third World poverty and colonialism and imperialism and exploitation and economics and gangs and so on. I can remember seeing a TV newsmagazine segment a few years ago on how these migrants immoral Mexico on the tops of cargo trains. Not inside the boxcars, but clinging to the tops of the cars. Apparently, the interiors of the cars are too hazardous because of bandits and/or rapists and murderers - both free-lance thugs and organized gangsters. At any rate, the whole scene is totally lawless. Anybody who attempts this hurry is taking their life into their absorb hands. They’re beset upon by not only the aforementioned bandits, but also the Mexican authorities, who seem entirely unsympathetic, to establish it mildly. At the time I thought: “What a colossal premise for a movie!” Seems like Mr. Fukunaga agreed.

I reflect the trailer gives away too mighty already, so I’ll try to be careful what I say here. Willy is a member of Mara Salvatrucha and Sayra is making her contrivance North when their paths intersect atop a bid. Willy makes a moment-of-truth decision that permanently and irrevocably disrupts his life and suddenly binds the wide-eyed Sayra to his side from that instant on. Then the breeze is on and it’s a huge one.

This movie is not only extremely graphic, but also very true-to-life and thoroughly realistic. For example, there’s a scene where an unarmed Willy is being hunted by two gunmen and I figured he would simply turn the tables on them and secure their guns. After all, Sylvester Stallone would impartial laugh if it was a mere two killers after him, fair? Sylvester would then easily raze them both bare-handed in a few seconds, accurate? Even with his eyes closed if he wanted to. But then I realized that Willy without his fill gun and without his gang was fair a disturbed boy running for his life like a rabbit. At that point, I realized honest how valid this movie was and I really got into it.

Fukunaga gets uniformly sparkling low-key and histrionics-free performances out of his entire cast. Not a single old-fashioned link among all of them. The two leads are clear standouts but there’s a lot of expedient work by the other actors. Lil’ Mago is absolutely terrifying; a figure straight out of a nightmare but smooth seeming human. Martha Marlene is comic and very touching when we realize what her fate is going to be. Smiley is true on the money - a large peformance by a child actor. Scarface reminds us that not all of the Mara Salvatrucha are kids; some of them actually survive into their 30’s and 40’s and so on. I mediate the guy playing El Sol gets somewhat overlooked. His character doesn’t have Lil’ Mago’s eerie appearance but he manages to be every bit as scary unbiased the same.

Also, Mr. Fukunaga clearly knows his Shakespeare. Willy has two different relationships that both echo “Romeo and Juliet” and there’s a scene at the raze that’s a recent version of “Et tu, Brute? ” from “Julius Caesar”. But what I like most about him is his obstinacy. He was given a Sundance Studios green light to gain a film and he came up with a Spanish language narrative made in Mexico with an all-Hispanic cast. Not a single gringo in witness, but don’t let the sub-titles discourage you from experiencing a suitable, extremely well-made, deeply tantalizing film. Go contemplate it and grasp the DVD when it comes out - it’s that valid.

Sin Nombre has it all - tremendous acting, stunning cinematography, noteworthy themes, and fantastic realism. The realism is no accident. Young filmmaker Cary Fukunaga spent months in Mexico, interviewing both immigrants and gang members about their experiences. He shot on residence, and many cast members are nonprofessionals. For example, Edgar Flores, in the lead role as a member of the Chiapas chapter of the brutal Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang, is straight off the streets of Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Despite the specific setting of the tumultuous U.S.-Mexico border, Sin Nombre addresses much and universal themes of damnation and redemption. At least, that’s how I saw it. In an interview, Fukunaga himself said he sees it as being about family - “the disintegration and recreation of the family unit in its novel and varying forms.”

The position centers around a chance and fateful encounter between gang member Willy and a 15-year-old Honduran girl, Sayra (Paulina Gaitan), who is riding north through Mexico atop a yell. Though Sayra’s bolt, viewers catch an appreciation for the intense dangers faced by Central Americans trekking toward the promised land.

Without giving away anything, I can mutter you a bit of background on how the film came about. Fukunaga, a native of the San Francisco Bay Region, was in film school in Fresh York when he read a Original York Times sage on a group of Mexican and Central American immigrants who died of asphyxiation and heat exhaustion while trapped and abandoned inside a refrigerated trailer. His short 2004 documentary about that case, “Victoria Para Chino,” won multiple film awards.

That project evolved into Sin Nombre, as Fukunaga explained in an IndieWire interview. Doing the research, he said, “I learned about the dreadful go Central American immigrants went through in order to obtain to the United States - crossing the infinitely more risky badlands of Mexico on top of (not in) freight trains budge for the US Border. It was like a world that belonged to the broken-down wild west.”

Against the advice of friends, Fukunaga gained intimacy with his topic by taking the same harrowing train-top jog that he would film. On his first bolt, with 700 Central American immigrants, the order was attacked within three hours:

“We were somewhere in the pitch murky regions of the Chiapan country side. In the alcove of the next stammer car I heard the certain pops of gunshots, always louder than they seem in the movies, then the screams of immigrants passing the word: ‘Pandillas! Pandillas!’ (gangsters) . Everyone scattered, I could hear them running in past our tanker car. Not having any where to race to, I stayed on…. The next day I talked to two Hondurans who were next to the attack. They told me a Guatemalan immigrant didn’t want to give two bandits his money so they shot him and throw him under the hiss. [Later] I learned the police had found the body of a Guatemalan immigrant, shot and abandoned…. Nothing could have driven home the sensation of fright and impotence than what I had felt first hand with those immigrants.”

Fukunaga’s willingness and ability to contemplate through the eyes of others probably owes powerful to his upbringing. Fukunaga is described in an L.A. Times article as “a wandering spirit with a Japanese father, a Swedish mother, a Chicano stepdad and an Argentine stepmom [who] can’t be reduced to the sum of his parts, ethnic or otherwise. Growing up, he shuffled from the suburbs to the country to the barrio (’Crips and Bloods, people getting shot’) to the East Bay’s hillside bourgeois enclaves. His family, he says, always has been a ‘conglomeration of individual, sort of displaced people,’ recombinations of relatives and step-relatives, blood kin and surrogate kin, parents and what he calls “pseudo-parents” who treated him like a son.”

With this background, Fukunaga was able to purchase not only the immigrant experience, but the pathos of gang life in Central America and Mexico, with brutality and hopelessness transmitted from generation to generation. Sin Nombre doesn’t give the history or context for the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), which at 100,000-strong is widely considered one of the most fastest-growing and perilous gangs in the world. But you can secure that elsewhere on the Web.

In brief, the MS-13 is an outgrowth of the 1980s war in El Salvador, which led to a massive migration of up to two million refugees into the United States. Many settled in the Ramparts space of Los Angeles, where the gang was founded. Strict U.S. immigration policies in more new years have paradoxically worsened the gang spot, allowing the MS-13 to come by footholds in Central America and Mexico. The MS-13 is known for its shining tattoos, but some say members are fascinating away from tattoos because they so brilliantly illuminate gang membership for authorities. A documentary on the MS-13, Hijos de la Guerra (Children of the War), can be previewed at hijosdelaguerra dot com.

Sin Nombre is getting universal acclaim, and richly deserves the directing and cinematography awards it garnered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

For the region line, to the authenticity of the locals, all that is on the web. But if you know something about WWII in western Europe, specifically this stage of the war, the details the producers went to will astound you. From the cuff bands on uniforms, vehicle markings, to the single decal on the Waffen S.S. motorcyclist’s helmet et al., these guys/women knew what they were doing.

It wasn’t long after I first saw this film that I realized it was, in fact, Richard Basehart ( not a dashing figure, but the man could act ) who was the narrator for the large David L. Wolper WWII documentaries, also produced in the 60’s.

Again, this is a titanic humanistic/spy movie to experience, this is the benchmark.

Offbeat and emotionally though-provoking narrative of German turncoats spying for the Yanks in the closing days of WWII.

Largely forgotten, this vivid thriller captured a best portray Oscar nomination in 1951. Unique for war films of that period, it pulls no punches about the fears and miseries of that time in Europe. Oskar Werner is sensational as the German traitor motivated to encourage ruin the suffering caused by his country’s continued resistance to the inevitable Allied victory. Similar in tone to “The Leer Who Came in From the Wintry.”

No extras on this Fox “Heroes of War” series title other than an irregular news clip about the film getting an award.

Superfly (1972) is a tough, unpolished gem rising above the numerous films to reach from the blaxploitation period of the early 70’s. While some are principal of the message they hold posed within the film, one of glamorizing the image of the drug dealer, I didn’t really peep it that intention at all. I deem this image presented was a superficial one, and one that the main character within the film saw and understood, prompting his actions and decisions to try and sprint the life.

Ron O’Neal, who recently passed away on January 14, 2004, plays Priest, a streetwise pusher in a predicament. Seems he is tired of the hustle, and is looking for a plot to secure out of the game, but, as his partner Eddie (Carl Lee) puts it, “Behold, I know it’s a obnoxious game, but it’s the only one The Man left us to play.” Apparently Priest has opinion long about this, and he has reach up with a conception to rep a lot of cash in a short amount of time, and then plans to retire. Sounds like a thought, but Priest soon encounters grand forces that feel he is worth more to them on the streets, pushing junk, doing what he does best. While the film does appear to glamorize the lifestyle of the drug peddler, I truly beget the underlying message was than despite all Priests’ success, he was languishing in a beget of slavery, always working for someone else and taking all the risks keen in such a trade. In a procedure he realized this, but found it difficult to leave the life, as that was all he knew, and working for ‘chump change’ was not in his future.

Gordon Parks, Jr. direction may seem amateurish with jerky camera shots and such, but it fit in nicely with the nature of the material within the film, giving a raw, harsh gaze into the seedy side of life, grand like Martin Scorsese’s Mean Streets (1973) . One of the things that really sets this film apart from the other movies of the time was the soundtrack by the legendary Curtis Mayfield. With such funkified songs as Pusherman, Freddie’s Expressionless, and Superfly, Mayfield’s contributions to the film served to elevate it above many films within the genre, and solidify his career as a musical genius. O’Neal is substantial as Priest (worship those outta recognize mutton chops), and is supported by some really decent performances by the resplendent Sheila Frazier, Julius Harris, who many may notice from the James Bond film Live and Let Die (1973), and Charles McGregor, who also appearing in Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles (1974) .

There are a beneficial amount of special features on this disc including a imprint unique documentary called `One Last Deal: A Retrospective’, a commentary track by Dr. Todd Boyd, a USC professor of television and cinema and author of “Am I Dark Enough for You: Accepted Culture from the ‘Hood and Beyond”, a early featurette with Ron O’Neal, a `making of ` documentary with O’Neal, `Behind the Threads’ featurette with costumer designer Nate Adams where he shows off some of the fresh costumes from the film, and an audio only track with Mayfield’s music. Also, I really liked some of the minute touches within the interactive menu. For instance, instead of a listing for `Scene Selection’, it’s titled `Makin’ the Scene’, the `Special Features’ selection is titled `Fly Features’, and the subtitles portion is labeled `Jive Talk’. A very nice and well-developed release by Warner Brothers, although I detached am annoyed that they consume the cheap plastic and cardboard packaging. When will they learn…

Cookieman108

I was born in the 70’s but it was only recently (a couple of days ago) that I saw the film Superfly. A film about a drug dealer who wants to retire from the cocaine business because he sees its fatalism. I guess I must have bought into the negativity of those who condemned the film for its perceived glorification of street life. In reality, I didn’t even know what the film was about, I simply discounted it as unbiased another blaxploitation that would be filled with over the top characters and dreadful acting. But Superfly was none of what I expected. It’s social commentary speaks to the hopelessness of such a life style and if anything offers an anti-drug message. It also speaks to what society tells us to revere-money, homes, cars-the American Dream. Unfortunately, people could not stare beyond the flashy clothes and the melodic musical bag, which serves as the narrator, and controversy to consume the accurate message of the film. It is also sorrowful that the slow Ron O’Neal’s mesmerizing and quick-witted performance as Priest was somewhat overshadowed by the film’s controversy-namely, a drug dealer as hero. Ron O’Neal was a victim of what happens to most actors who have monumental success on a film-oftentimes they are typecast and then resigned to film and television roles that are beneath their talent and ability-it happens to the best of actors and the worst. Had he been an actor unprejudiced starting out in demonstrate times, with his exotic, smoldering reliable looks and mountainous talent and intensity, he would have become world renown and Oscar nominated and perhaps an Oscar winner. He was definitely underrated and a man ahead of his time.

Although obviously rude budget, Superfly IS a very superb film. Curtis Mayfield’s haunting soundtrack coupled with Ron O’Neal’s hypnotic performance definitely makes this a must peep film. And although it is included in the blaxploitation genre, Superfly is a film that deserves to stand on its believe.

Big Fish is the best movie I have ever seen and I have sent many, many people to stare it and none have been disappointed. The easiest design to recount the movie would be “Terms of Endearment” for Sons and Fathers. The son knows that his father is dying, but is unable to let go without at least trying to distinguish between his Father’s “Fish” stories and his father’s steady life. The viewer never knows until the very extinguish of the movie where the truth lies in this senerio. I consume many viewers will glean themselves in this “non-chick” flick and so you may need some tissue, I did. Also this is a Tim Burton masterpiece in production, visual effects, dwelling, music, and character interplay.

The sexiest scene I have ever viewed in a film takes spot in Ample Fish and yet there is no nudity in the scene. Jessica Lang provides the viewer with her usual satisfactory performance and the young version of her character looks so worthy like her the viewer forgets they are two different actors and both their performances are outstanding. McGregor, although has lots of scenes in the movie, plays his section of the confused and somewhat furious son flawlessly. The father and his younger version maintain the viewer so entertained that you never want this film to destroy. I would recommend this film to everyone over the age of 12. It is not a pleasurable choice for accurate young children because Tim Burton has done such an outstanding job of producing this film and most of the scenes are bigger than life and would easily horror younger audiances, although this is not a scary movie. It is sparkling and I do not understand why Hollywood has not given this describe more oscar attention and it is rare that I ever want to plan a film more than once I intend to catch this DVD and witness it 100 more times.

What happens when you are a grand multi-millionaire and have everything you ever wanted? While you and I might judge this position is highly well-organized, for Nicholas Van Orton, played by Michael Douglas, it is very tiresome. In fact, you might say that Nicholas is glum. However, Nicholas’ brother Conrad Van Orton, played by Sean Penn, has bought Nicholas a gift for his 48th birthday, an invitation to play “The Game”.

From this point forward the movie drags for what seems forever. I was beginning to regret watching this movie. Looking befriend, though, I now know that this beginning helps us to more fully understand how listless and terrible Nicholas’ life is, and further provides an expedient inequity with what happens later in the movie.

Nicholas is in a very upscale restaurant when a waitress (Deborah Unger as Christine) spills wine on his shirt. Christine is fired by the restaurant manager and leaves, very upset. Before you can say white rabbit, a waiter rushes by Nicholas’ table and drops off a sign that tells Nicholas’ to follow the girl. Prepare for the roller coaster swagger.

Within moments Nicholas finds himself keen with an apparently dying man, then unbiased as like a flash he finds he is being chased by the police, and police dogs, and things impartial net worse and worse. The list of things to which Nicholas is subjected is too long and would leave you with no surprises.

Nicholas tries to figure out how to accomplish all the action and events to which he is being subjected halt. Nicholas can’t handle the loss of control. Further, the chaos of his experiences seems to follow no pattern or order. Eventually Nicholas gets support to where he thinks it all began for a showdown with the characters that he has discovered are actors. The ending had me shy and amazed. You’ll have to leer for yourself.

There are several lapses in credibility, but unless you are an obsessive control freak (sort of like Nicholas Van Orton, for instance) you’ll likely think the lapses minor. This movie ultimately is an vivid thriller that relies on action only when essential to heighten Nicholas’ fears and to pull him deeper into what begins to seem like a deeply harmful conspiracy. After watching, this movie became one of my favorites, and I’ve now seen it several times.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Game! Click Here

The most difficult fraction of this movie is the relatively wearisome first allotment. However, have patience; what you learn in the first section helps you to understand Nicholas and to be drawn more fully into his place. Sympathy with Nicholas and his region is highly shapely to fully indulge in the ruin of the movie. I was sympathetic, and enjoyed this movie. 5 stars for an shining thriller that relies on intellectual spot versus guns, snappy cars and special effects.

The Game was directed by Fight Club director David Fincher and in many ways it prepares the viewer for the twists and turns of Fight Club. Michael Douglas as control junky investment banker Nicholas Van Orton is given an invitation to “the game” by his younger brother Conrad (Sean Penn) . Before Van Orton knows it the game has started and it takes him on prance where he is in the unlit so to whine and he never really gets out of it until it is over. Other reviews have said that it has no sense of humor, this movie doesn’t need one. it’s mysterious and quick-witted strength is more than enough to preserve most people fixed to it. Others have said that the ending is anticlimactic. If one cannot delight in the ending of this movie, they haven’t been paying attention. If you want a movie that makes you mediate, this movie is for you. my friends and i started it sometime after midnight a couple years ago and we didn’t sleep for an hour after it was done because it made us believe that distinguished. the movie buff will not be disappointed.

I have been researching the UFO expect including gash circles, animal mutilations and human abductions for about 15 years. I’ve seen 90% of the available videos and read many of the books available on these subjects. This 3 DVD collection is head and shoulders above most presentations. Thought is kept to a minimum, and verifiable evidence is kept at the forefront. I recommend that anyone who watches this series and maintains the state that we are not being visited should witness it again and pay attention this time. The evidence is indisputable.

Very sterling, well presented. The 3 DVD’s covereed each topic well. I would recommend assume of this product.

Despite being an American, I’m very keen in England and am a bit of an Anglophile so I generally gravitate towards the country’s films. A Very British Gangster was an exceptional documentary that revealed the fleshy complexity of a man whose life seems to have already been decided. We explore at the waste of it that he is going relieve to jail but his attitude and everything about his character suggest that his final destination is a foregone conclusion. The police follow him everywhere and it’s quite likely that the filmmaker was not the only individual who recorded many of these conversations. What we acquire most is that Dominic Noonan is, in many ways, a normal man with a variety of relationships and concerns that must be negotiated. Most of his criminality is merely hinted at here, but it seems very unlikely that–even if he is re-released–he will conjure up the will to change his life. This is an endearing and well-crafted portrait of a doomed man.

Though I’m not mighty for documentaries, a friend recommended this flick so I gave it a shot and enjoyed it immensely. A very human face is painted on an otherwise historically vicious neighborhood gangster such that you almost feel sorry for him .. but not quite. If you’re the type of person who likes the conception of people who live in a neighborhood looking out for the neighborhood, you’ll delight in this documentary.

This legend, the fable of child laborers in the “3rd world” is a harrowing chronicle of poverty and misery. But it is also a narrative about hope, the hope that these children, and the some 800 other children who work the same mines, can accept out of the life and acheive something more than the distinct death that awaits all of such miners. What a huge movie, you actually open to feel clausterphobic when the camera takes you to the deepest depths of the mines with these children. You feel your throat open to end up when you peek these workers scuttle through the dust without masks.

This movie explains why someone like Evo Morales has arrive to power in Bolivia, and anyone who derieds such a humble man as Morales needs to recognize this DVD.

Seldom does a documentary catch both my mind and heart, yet ‘The Devil’s Miner’ does unprejudiced that. This is more than an entrance into hell on earth; it is the tale of a child captured by the beast of poverty and despair.

Because of my humanitarian work I have been inside the La Cumbre silver mine, the mountain that eats men. This capable documentary captures the darkness and dome of those that quandary out a meager living, while at the same time giving the viewer hope for those trapped. There is a light at the demolish of the shaft, a very slight distant light, but light nonetheless.
