Krystian Zimerman interpretations of these pieces are simply superlative and new, I really wanted to explore this recital for so long, I knew Deutsche Grammophon Japan released this DVD some years ago but I could not accumulate it at that time, now that it has unprejudiced been re-released I am so delighted I could finally add this fabulous performance to my collection.
The film is beautifully done with perfectly chosen camera angles and is a dependable pleasure to eye, the audio is perfect (DTS 5.1) and the portray quality is very favorable indeed (the recital took residence in 1987), own me that this DVD is an instant classic in every piano DVD collection.

This is the first time I search for Krystian Zimerman playing on video, I was expecting a mammoth recital but this performance absolutely surpassed my highest expectations, I was greatly impressed by his stunning pianism and tantalizing interpretations of this fabulous piano music.
This is a resplendent recital captured in beautifully recorded 5.1 surround sound. My benchmark in this repertoire has always been Rubinstein. Now we have Zimmerman who knows how to reveal the poetry, fire and soul in this music with self-effacing, consummate virtuosity. The program includes the 4 Ballades, the astonishing Fantasie in f# minor and the spacious f-minor Barcarolle, among others. I haven’t listened to the Schubert yet, but my expectations are high. If you worship Chopin, choose this DVD and immerse yourself in this resplendent music. This one’s a keeper!
