I could say that I bought ‘Spice World’ for my teenage daughter and that would be quite just. Of course that statement wouldn’t epic for the additional copy stashed away in my absorb personal DVD collection. I guess it’s time for me to face up to the truth and objective say it out loud. Mel B - Mel C - Victoria - Geri & Emma, your movie is hilarious!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Spice World! Click Here

Yes, it’s predictable, shallow and inane, but it’s also adorable, quirky and off-the-wall in a fine, Monty Python sort of draw. It actually works! Say and consider what you will, I LIKE IT!

So no more excuses common, net your acquire copy of ‘Spice World’ so you can luxuriate in the Fab Five as they romp about jolly worn England in their very ‘posh’ double decker bus! GIRL POWER!!

Everybody has something that they relish and unbiased can’t justify. They might even be a puny embarassed to admit that they like it. Well, I’m not embarassed to admit that the Spice Girls are one of my guilty pleasures. Granted, their music may be a microscopic hokey, but they certain are fun to listen to. In “Spice World,” the girls select on a world tour with Bond-esque style. This movie isn’t amazing, but it is fun enough for the whole family to leer. It’s laughable, it’s goofy, and, at times, it is quick-witted. You pick up a feel of what these ladies had to effect up with on a daily basis, albeit in a substantial and over-the-top style. There are cameos abound in this flick as well. The acting isn’t that terrible and the girls seemed to appreciate making the movie.

Funny moments abound in this flick, but some of my personal favorites are when the girls first obtain on their tour bus and they complain about how hot it is. They say that they could spend a fan and, in perfect British comedic style, a young, pre-teen girl comes through the door screaming with glee and then runs serve out the door. The girls mutter with comfortable relief. Another silly moment is the expensive, special-effects laden tour-bus jumping a draw-bridge with Posh tedious the wheel scene. Finally, in the demolish credits, the girls “interact” with the audience. They insist on people making out, wonder why folks watching their video can’t net anything edifying on the “telly” and audience member clothes. The entire movie is unbiased a fun small move.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Spice World! Click Here

Alan Cumming(X-Men 2, Josey and the Pussycats) takes a turn as a reporter attempting to document the lives of these ladies. George Wendt(Norm, of ‘Cheers’ fame) is a movie producer looking for a film to keep the girls in and cash in on their fame. Meatloaf is the bus driver for the girls. Some of the better-known cameos that American audiences will gape are Elton John, Bob Hoskins and Roger Moore. If you’re a die-hard fan of British film and television, you’ll witness many of the other cameos as well.

The only reason I’m giving this movie three stars is because, obviously, this movie isn’t for everyone. In fact, many people might contemplate that this movie is unbiased too comic to eye. On my personal scale, I would give this flick four stars for the simple fact that I savor to search for it and because the Spice Girls don’t buy themselves too seriously in the movie.

Overall, this is a comic, blatantly cheesy movie that lets you laugh at and with the Spice Girls. They wobble fun at themselves and have a estimable time doing it. A righteous movie to survey when you have a diminutive time to slay or unprejudiced want to forget about the world(but not the ‘Spice World’) for awhile.

This is an pleasurable workout video. As someone over 70, I regain that I can do all the exercises at one of the three levels. It would also be very useful to anyone with an office job. All major muscle groups are worked as well as emphasis on improving balance, posture and relaxing tension. Highly recommended.

I fetch myself looking forward to this workout. It’s divided into sections (upper, lower body, and abs.) so I can do the whole workout or expend different parts on alternate days. Because advanced, moderate, and beginner are shown at the same time, it’s easy to determine what works for me. I be pleased the short interjections about the clear aspects of working out while the beefy cover continues the routine. Certainly anyone who is fair starting out, or over 50, would bag this a worthwhile workout.

This DVD on “The Fresh Medicine” covers a frontier in medicine where to date we have merely scratched the surface. That frontier is how the region of mind of a patient interacts with dilapidated science applications when treating dis-ease. The power of the mind over body is overwhelmingly distinguished in treating illness, and this DVD does a dazzling job at convincing even the most resolute main stream medical doctor of the value in treating the whole person - body, mind, and spirit. The DVD is not some wishful thinking episode of discovery, but actually involves credible integrative medical experts who are in the precise world truly making a dissimilarity in patients lives - a disagreement for the better that goes far beyond what most people put a question to to be a agreeable outcome. As the DVD brings out — It is not only the disease that a person has that is critical, but what kind of person has the disease. This DVD is likely to benefit a patient, or even a healthy individual, to occupy the time to produce changes in one’s life style to live life to the fullest - by taking time to focus on what is really vital in life - relationships. It was so uplifting to thought medical students being taught by their seasoned medical professors the absolute importance in searching for and discovering each patient’s “narrative” - mental location, life style and relationships, as well as treating their medical disease. The DVD captured many patient stories of successfully dealing with their disease using alternative mind therapy techiques, in total conjuction with their medical doctor partnering with them throughout their musty medical treatment.

Great information to integrate into your life for better health and a more unruffled plot. This is a sizable film for anybody well or otherwise.

After the Angel of Death

Of all the Nazis aside from Hitler, Josef Mengele was the most despicable. He was responsible for sending hundreds of thousands of Jews to their deaths as well as performed the worst medical experiments on adults and children. After the war was over, Mengele managed to speed justice for forty years.

First Bustle Features is releasing “The Search for Mengele”, a documentary on the hunt for the eminent Nazi. Narrated by David Frost, the film traces Mengele’s hasten through Germany to Italy and then on to South America to Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil where he was finally died. The movie looks at Mengele’s life as recalled by those that knew him and we hear how he lived during his final years as he remained undercover in a multi-racial society, something that he worked to eliminate in Germany. The film also raises the inquire of that Mengele cannot be dismissed as a solitary monster because that would be a bit too convenient. The film questions whether Mengele alone could have been solely responsible for the deaths and it is possible that he was impartial the product of a “warped system of values”. Is there a possibility that something like the reign of dismay of the Third Reich could happen again? Most famous is the expect of why Mengele was never caught.

“The Search” was filmed in ten countries and features interviews and photographs and it looks at Mengele’s life and his crimes as well as at those that aided him in eluding justice and we learn that if the agencies of the world really wanted to regain him he could have and would have been caught.

Perhaps the most exciting interview is with Rolf Mengele who discovered that his “Uncle Fritz” was actually his father.

I unbiased received this accurate DVD from Amazon. Although the package art now carries a 2007 date, the disc inside is the same as the 2001 release. It is NOT anamorphically enhanced. In fact, the files on the DVD are dated 2001, so it literally is the right DVD release in 2001 - the menu is the same as well. The only dissimilarity is this comes in a hold case rather than a snapper case. Such a shame that WB won’t do better by this overlooked masterpiece.

I am an unabashed Kubrick fan. I was initiated into his work with “A Clockwork Orange” when I was 16 and went from there. Why is it that “Barry Lyndon” has in my mind surpassed other more revered works. You can cite the elegant technical attributes of the film(cinematography, art direction, costume effect, music), however, a technically proficient movie is not necessarily a bewitching experience. I would have to say that what elevates this movie is the screenplay and the acting. Kubrick does a vast job spicy the fable from Redmond Barry’s youth to his downfall among the English aristocracy. Kubrick has also gathered a titanic cast of actors here in supporting roles(Parick Magee, Leonard Rossiter, Marie Kean, Godfrey Quigley, Steven Berkof, etc.) . What cannot be overlooked is the performance of Ryan O’Neal. If some gather him wooden or off-putting should contemplate that he is essentially playing an unsympathetic rogue. It is a bold performance and O’Neal is utterly convincing whether playing a headstrong teenager or a wintry manipulator. One gripe about the DVDs in the Kubrick Collection: with the exception of “The Brilliant”, the only extras on these discs are trailers.

I’m not a stout war-movie buff any more (THE SEARCH FOR PRIVATE RYAN cured me) but this is a worthwhile film if you have an interest in WWII. TORA! TORA! TORA! is a documentary-type film. Contemplate of it as a Stephen Ambrose book recorded live. The film is neither a glorified fifties war-film (IN HARMS Plot, BATTLE OF THE CORAL SEA), nor is it a Viet Nam noir-war film (PLATOON, THE DEER HUNTER) . (Neither of which are particularly authentic.)

TORA! TORA! TORA! recreates war from the perspective of news correspondent-participant-observer. The yarn is presented from both the Japanese and American viewpoints and it is presented like a History Channel film.

It took the film crew several months to film TORA! TORA! TORA! I was living in Navy housing on Pearl Harbor at the time and a number of our friends and acquaintences found part-time jobs acting in the film. “Loyal” military pilots in-between rounds in Viet Nam flew some of the planes (this was 1969) .

Much of the architecture in Honolulu was vintage WWII era or earlier and the rest of the island was relatively unchanged from the 1940s. The terrain looked very considerable as it had when my father-in-law passed through on his diagram to Guadalcanel and later Iwo Jima.

I cannot verbalize you the names of the aircraft (my husband could) but I was told that they ancient loyal aircraft from the period including the P40s the U.S. flew and the captured Zeros the Japanese flew. We drove up to Schoffield Barracks to glance at the veteran airplanes lined up row on row. During the filming, one of these customary planes crashed in a sugar cane field and burned up before the pilot could be rescued. The daily flights overhead, the trusty crashes, the reenactment of the destruction in the harbor, the daily flights in and out of Hickam as men and material destined for Viet Nam left and wounded and dull arrived–was all very unique.

Well, this is an sterling film. The unusual PEARL HARBOR relies on all sorts of technology, but if you want to perceive how Hawaii really looked in 1941 and how the planes really looked, and how the crews really looked, and earn some sense of how ghastly it was to be in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 this is the film to peek.

I first saw Tora! Tora! Tora! (Tiger! Tiger! Tiger! in Japanese) in 1974, when I was 20 years old-fashioned on Atlanta’s Channel Two. As exclusive as this may sound, I have always liked movies about World War II. My stepfather had served in the Navy during the war and in fact he had joined the service shortly after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, which is the subject of this 2 hour and 25 minute-long Japanese-American 1970 production.

This movie was directed by several directors including Toshio Masuda and Kinji Fukasuka, but the American version (yes, there is a Japanese version) gives the credit to stale director Richard Fleischer. Based on Gordon W. Prange’s “Tora! Tora! Tora!” and Ladislas Farago’s “The Broken Seal”, the film accurately depicts the events on both sides of the Pacific leading up to the shapely attack on the U.S. Pacific Like A Flash on Sunday, December 7, 1941.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Tora! Tora! Tora!! Click Here

Even though it covers an 18-month period between Admiral Yamamoto’s (Soh Yamamura) initial planning for Operation Hawaii and the attack itself, Tora! Tora! Tora! (the title refers to the code conventional to relate the Japanese that the Americans had been caught by surprise) never drags or seems plain. I learned, for instance, that Japanese Ambassador Nomura was a skilled and fine diplomat who did not know what his country’s military leaders were planning, and that he hoped to avoid war. I was also insecure by how General Walter C. Short (Jason Robards) was so preoccupied by the threat of sabotage from Hawaii’s 125,000 Japanese inhabitants that he foolishly parked all the bombers and fighters in Hickam and Wheeler Fields in natty rows, supposedly to get them easier to guard but actually making them sitting ducks.

What amazed me about watching this movie is how clueless Pearl Harbor’s defenders were on that Sunday morning. Though many people consider the first shot of the Pacific War was fired by the Japanese, it was actually fired by the USS Ward on a Japanese midget submarine trying to sneak into the harbor. This happened roughly an hour before the first bomb fell on Battleship Row. I would have plan that the picture of an unknown submarine being fired upon in a restricted space would have alerted the whole expeditiously. Harmful! American officers in Oahu were so determined that the Japanese would be spotted long before they could originate a strike that Captain James Earle (Richard Anderson) asks for confirmation before he tells his superiors. This does not get Adm. Husband E. Kimmel (Martin Balsam) very satisfied and I notion he was very indignant that the Ward’s initial relate did not come him in time.

The movie makes definite to the audience that history often hinges on slight but important details. Who would have concept that the fate of two ample nations would be decided by a diplomat’s listless typing rush, or that a record of a gigantic radar blip off to the north of Oahu would be received with the phrase, “Well, don’t trouble about it.”? It sounds like poor fiction but everything in this movie is based on historical fact.

Tora! Tora! Tora! has improbable battle scenes. Most of the aerial scenes were shot using either vintage planes or realistic replicas (because there are no flying Zero fighters, T-28 Texans were modified to peep like the eminent Japanese planes) . The Navy actually allowed 20th Century-Fox to film in and around Pearl Harbor and rented a World War II era carrier that was to be decommissioned to abet as a stand in for the Japanese carrier. Clever editing, marvelous little effects and carefully built live action sets give the illusion that one is actually reliving the Day of Infamy.

The 60th Anniversary Special Edition DVD was released around the same time as 2001’s Pearl Harbor. It features an all modern 20-minute documentary, director’s commentary, the orginal theatrical trailer, and restores the movie to its new widescreen format. It has four audio tracks (English 4.1, the commentary, English Dolby Surround, French Mono), and subtitles in English and Spanish.

My wife insisted we glimpse this film - since it was not something in which I was enthusiastic (dramas and romances are not usually what I choose to survey) I picked up a book and began reading. Within minutes, I was completely enraptured by this movie and forgot about the book. While a represent with the title TEA WITH MUSSOLINI sounds slack, trust me, it’s not. It moves forward beautifully telling a proper epic of English and American women in Italy at the breakout of the war and its execute on them and the Italian child they have all raised together. This is a much film (an record in diminutive movie disguise) with indelible performances from a perfect cast esp. Cher and Joan Plowright. Why neither they nor this film have appeared on many (if any) best of the year lists is completely mind-boggling to my wife and myself. The play is truly the thing here and director Zeffirelli has done a honorable job telling a unbelievable anecdote (his believe life) that’s ultimately irristible. Filled with humor, hope and inspiration - words that usually manufacture producers cringe these days but words that collected mean the best in broad moviemaking. My choice for best film of the year and one of the best of all time. A minor masterpiece. Please give it a try…I don’t consider you’ll be disappointed if you’re looking for something with big heart that has something to say about the dignity of the human spirit. Better than LIFE IS Comely. A gem!

The film “Tea with Mussolini” deals with complex issues in such a subtle plan that it is easy to dismiss if the viewer overlooks the intriquite relationships of the characters. How the characters evolve from being self-involved (their admire of the arts and formalities) to becoming caring individuals and creating bonds that overcome the heirarchies of the social class structure due to accelerate, nationality, war and a young boy that pulls them together. Luca a young Italian boy copes with having no family due to being an illigitamate child in picturesque Italy during The Second World War. Lucas mothers death and his father’s refusal to grasp him into his care due to a wife that would not salvage him lead him to pick up a original family with his father’s secretary (Joan Plowright) and her sociatal peers The Scorpioni (The Scorpions) named for the groups keen wit and poisonous bite. This group takes young Luca into their privliged clique and shares in the education and introduces young Luca to The Arts which is the groups passion. Diminutive do they know that by doing this they have began on a road to self change that will alter thier opinion on the world, thier friendships and detestations of others in the group. This film is a legend of compassion, friendship, art, family, accepatance, change, egos, jeolousy and shows the letting go of beliefs and the opening of hearts. The cast is first rate with the likes of Cher, Maggie Smith, Joan Plowright, Lily Tomlin and Judi Dench along with the perfect casting of the character Luca played by Baird Wallace (Luca: teenager) and Charlie Lucas (Luca: child) both of these magnificent young actors will grab the viewers heart and accomplish him want to abet with the caring of and the education of this heart grabbing character. Luca’s troubles will affect the viewer and pull at one’s heartstrings. Baird Wallace is talented young actor that holds his enjoy and deserves praise and peek from the industry. Recomendations: Hold this film, it is a film with grit and emotions that will do you interrogate your acquire life and wish that you could have been as bleesed as Luca had.

The trilogy of westerns made by Sergio Leone during the early to mid-60’s are among the best of the so-called spaghetti westerns produced. Leone’s novel cinematic vision and his modern exercise of the camera (a bit of trivia Leone never storyboarded his films. Unlike Hitchcock and other major directors he had it all in his head) invent these films novel and noteworthy. Leone was the first foreign film director to do self reflective movies; i.e., his westerns were really about the classic western films he grew up loving with a post-ironic twist.

You can read about the plots elsewhere as I want to concentrate on the major drawback (and the benefits) of these DVDs; Both Fistful and more are presented in their widescreen aspect radio. Since Leone’s films benefited from the widescreen format and vistas, seeing them in a pan and scan version doesn’t do the films justice; it’s like listening to a mountainous fraction of music through a portable radio with abominable reception. You bag the gist of the music and feel that’s noteworthy but it lacks the bulky impact and range.

The films expose a high amount of analog artifacts. Portions of More also contemplate quite outmoded. Both films deserve and require a restoration similar to that performed for The Obliging, The Unpleasant and The Horrid (although the version included here is not the restored version) . Both discs also include both pan and scan and widescreen versions of the films. There’s also theatrical trailers and booklets with background on the making of both films. The soundtrack sounds flat and thin–given the arrangement the unusual soundtracks were mixed and released that’s not a surprise. Quiet, if the current elements collected exist it would be worthwhile to revisit these films, restore and then remaster them with a commentary track (similar to that for Once Upon A Time in The West) . They don’t perceive inappropriate but it’s positive that the negative is either in awful condition or the prints old were not pristine.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Man with No Name Trilogy! Click Here

The Safe, The Awful and The Gross looks and sounds better than the other two films in the series. It also benefited from a great larger budget and shooting time which is to the aid of the film. The acting is stronger (Eastwood returns as does Van Cleef joined by the scene chewing Eli Wallach in a pleasurable turn as “the frightful”) . THis version features a number of scenes gash for both the International and US version. While the scenes aren’t restored (and my copy didn’t even had the advertised “Italian” dialogue track but was soundless), they provide an racy background as to the motivations of the characters.

TGTBATU looks peaceful has a comely amount of analog artifacts but not quite as dreadful as the first two. The sound is slightly better although detached thin (again, it was recorded and shown in mono. Remember, this was the early 60’s) . Leone’s direction and visual flair are more in evidence on the third film of the series. Here’s hoping that MGM will find around to re-releasing the restored version that showed earlier in the year. Reportedly, Eastwood and Wallach re-recorded their dialogue (which might interpret why the tracks are silent–it’s determined that the dialogue tracks must be missing or incomplete) and they had a sound alike for the leisurely Van Cleef.

While all three films are valuable western classics, all three are marred by a variety of analog flaws. Their calm worth having but I’m hoping with the advent of reissues like Once Upon a Time in The West, that all three will win a face-lift and second chance on DVD. It also wouldn’t pain to provide some engaging background on the making of all three films. Eastwood and Wallach are unruffled around as are various crew members/actors from the novel productions. Let’s hope it gets done!

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Man with No Name Trilogy! Click Here

Oh, and by the draw, the Man with No Name did have a name in at least two of the three films here. That Man With No Name aspect was a marketing ploy dreamed up by the novel studio (United Artists) to sell the films later on down the line.

My outrageous rating does not apply to the movies themselves. In a period when most Hollywood westerns were becoming predictable and formulaic, Italian director Sergio Leone broke the mold! This trilogy, along with his last western, “Once Upon A Time In The West” (not included in this space), are the four greatest westerns ever made, and yet were not produced by Hollywood. The greatest of the Hollywood westerns, such as “The Ravishing Seven”, “The Astronomical Country”, “The Alamo”, “The Three Godfathers”; and south-of-the-border westerns like “The Fancy of the Sierra Madre” and “Guns For San Sabastian” (to name but a few of the greats) all plunge in slack the Leone westerns. If you are a fan of westerns and have not seen the movies in this trilogy, gape them as soon as possible, but be prepared for something different than you are broken-down to. They are not slick, but instead relate an legal grittiness of the frail west. They are not gimmicky like the Hollywood westerns of more modern vintage (say from about the mid 1970’s to indicate) . The greatest western ever made has to be “The Helpful, The Abominable And The Monstrous”. This is the mother of all westerns! The acting in all three movies is first-rate, but the performance of Eli Wallach as Tuco in “The Favorable…” is astonishing, and ranks as one of the greatest performances by any actor on film. Clint Eastwood also gives the greatest performance of his career in “The Profitable…”. It is spicy that Clint tried to recapture the magic of the Leone films in his fill productions such as “Pale Rider”, Hang ‘Em Hign”, etc., but never even came end.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Man with No Name Trilogy! Click Here

Now on to the problems with these discs. The transfers are not particularly hign quality, and appear not to be remastered. The first two trilogy movies are merely letterboxed rather than enhanced widescreen. But the biggest bummer of all is the sound quality. The sound quality on “The Advantageous…” is about as wonderful as any of the versions I have heard. The sound quality of “Fistful…” is rather unpleasant. But it is the scandalous sound of “for A Few Dollars More” that is really a crime. The dialog is too far in the background, and the overall sound on this disc is so harsh that if you turn the volume up to a level where you can hear the dialog clearly, the hard, treble-heavy, distorted sound will bore a hole in your head! I’m not kidding. I appreciate these movies so noteworthy that I will have to pick up an alternative version of “For a Few Dollars More” to replace the one that came with this trilogy. If I had it to do over again, I would steal the best individual versions I could rep, rather than raze money of this situation. It’s too dreadful that MGM didn’t set unprejudiced a diminutive bit more TLC into these masterpieces!

Fans of 60’s science fiction will appreciation the deluxe terrific reissue of “Amazing Voyage” achieve out by Fox. While very powerful a product of the mid-60’s, “Wonderful Voyage” holds up surprisingly well in objective about every spot. I doubt that fans need a recap of the site but I have one at the waste of this review if you’re enthusiastic.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Fantastic Voyage! Click Here

First up we accumulate a heed novel well-behaved looking transfer for the film. It isn’t perfect but it couldn’t be because of the source material. Some shots appear soft and a bit blurry due to the process photography/visual effects added to shots but that’s unavoidable and fairly typical of films from this time before digital video. Colors are heroic and as intelligent as I remember them.

Unlike the previous release we accumulate some really apt extras as well. The featurette on visual effects has Richard Edlund (”Finish Encounters”, “Blade Runner”) discussing the distress of shooting a visual effects film like “Improbable Voyage” in 1965 (it was releasedin 1966) . Like “Forbidden Planet”, “Improbable Voyage” pushed the barrier of visual effects for its times something NOT appreciated by a lot of viewers. Edlund points out that building the Proetus both in fat size and minute allowed director Richard Flesicher opportunities that most directors wouldn’t have in being flexible in his shooting. Also, the Proetus beefy scale exterior had an interior place mimicing the position for the inside of the ship which allowed them to shoot through the windows and not peril about having to do mattes as often creating a convincing environment.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Fantastic Voyage! Click Here

We also glean an isolated music collect with a commentary track as well featuring Prick Redman, Jon Burlingame and Jeff Bond discussing Leonard Rosenman’s top-notch music obtain. They are unruffled about 40 minutes in when Rosenman’s regain kicks in but the first 40 minutes these music/film historians focus on everything from the casting, to bits of trivia about the shooting of the film. We also score storyboard to film comparison of the whirlpool scene as well as a deleted scene from the script with storyboard illustrations. The electronic press booklet includes the modern press booklet. My only complaint is its a bit too limited to read at times even on a great cover TV but otherwise looks quite valid. We also net some of the movie-tie-in’s including a mention of Isaac Asimov’s unusual adapted from the script (where he fixed some of the holes in the script and science gaffs) . We net lobby cards, posters, radio and TV ads as well as the recent theatrical trailer. The interactive fragment of the gallery also allows us a 360 concept of the 5 foot model of the Proetus as well as its smaller (unbiased a couple of inches) version traditional for long shots and designed for visual effects mattes.

Fox has done a very nice job on this 40th Anniversary Edition (even if it is a year tedious) of this classic Science Fiction film. Distinct, the dialogue is occasionally awkward but it’s a film very mighty of its time and holds up remarkably well with strong performances by Stephen Boyd, Donald Pleasance (in one of his first roles as a villain), Arthur Kennedy, Raquel Welch and others.

Plot: Space during the Frosty War, Grant (Stephen Boyd) is called in to escort Jan Benes (Jean Del Val) a man with information critical to the safety and security of the United States. When their motorcade is attacked, Benes is injured and goes into a coma. Grant is again recruited this time to accompany a team of a surgeon (Arthur Kennedy), government doctor (Donald Pleasance), nurse (Raquel Welch) and Navy pilot (William Redfield) on a prance of small proportions. They are going to be miniaturized be injected into Benes and move in a state-of-the-art sub called the Proteus to ruin the blood clot threatening Benes life. Complications arise, however, when it appears they may have a saboteur in their midst.

After all these years, it’s black to gape what science fiction has become. There was a time when sci-fi movies had a modicum of “sci” in them, not to mention sparkling storylines and suspenseful situations that rose directly out of the premise. The science in FV is sound–the makers of the film did their sophomore biology homework, as well as their basic physics homework.I display this to my grade-school students, as an example of ‘good science fiction’, and as an appealing fragment of learning about various body systems. The visual effects are breathtaking and detached convincing, even in this era of CGI.Lots of fun!
