This “video board book” does a number of things very well. Powerful like a standard board book, it shows infants knowing, high-contrast images. But this video version also plays soothing and sometimes spunky melodies. It also lets children hear speakers of more than half a dozen foreign languages, including Hebrew, Russian and Japanese.

This feature of the video is confusing to many parents of potential viewers. Will the video convey junior to swear one of the foreign languages on the tape? Not exactly. Will it design junior a exiguous Einstein? Not exactly. What noble is it, then?

What the video DOES do is succor the mind hold many of the nerve synapses in the brain which would otherwise be destroyed as the infant matures into a toddler.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Baby Einstein - Language Nursery! Click Here

Imagine a Bonsai tree, of which some of its runt limbs and branches are trimmed because they are not useful to the tree as a whole. The body does the same thing to unused mental synapses sometime around the first and second years of life. And they don’t grow help.

Now consider about all the comical comedy scenarios you’ve seen where a Japanese tourist says something like, “Herro, I’m rooking for Horrywood, Carifornia.” Why do his Ls sound like Rs? Because there is NO “R” sound (phoneme) in the Japanese language. And because our tourist never heard that sound in his infancy, he cannot now, as an adult, discern it from the phonemically-similar “L” sound.

Infants hearing a variety of phonemes foreign to English-speaking people at this young age will hold the synapses that are sensitized (from birth) to these sounds. And this video does impartial that.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Baby Einstein - Language Nursery! Click Here

So while the video will not bellow junior the foreign language, if he tries to learn the language later, he will have an easier time of it, because he will be sensitized to that language’s sounds. And while junior perhaps will not be an Einstein for watching, he will reach away from the experience with more synapses in his brain than had he not watched.

Also be aware that none of this is pop psychology — it is well-researched and tested fact, taught in most undergraduate and graduate psychology, speech and linguistics classes today (View the producer’s Web region for details) .

Finally, as other reviewers have said better than I have, the video is a lot of fun for you and junior to see together! And perhaps THAT is the selling point for prospective parents who want the best for their miniature ones.

Okay…I must admit that my son is a Baby Einstein junkie! He was very fussy until he was three-months-old and Baby Bach was literally the only thing that saved my sanity on some days. Now that he is past the one-year milestone, he has the entire Baby Einstein library. He particularly loves the Baby Dolittle tapes and will peek them again and again.

We were cheerful to view a current title to add to our collection and waited patiently for the release date. I must say, I am a bit disappointed overall.

First, the video seems a lot shorter than the other ones. Maybe it’s because I bought the DVD this time and am frail to the “commercial” at the demolish of the tapes. My son insists on watching through to the “commercial” on the tapes, as even they own his attention.

Second, the quick editing is more MTV than Baby Einstein. Our children have dwindling attention spans as it is. Disney’s hands are ALL OVER this video. If you eye the Disney Channel, it’s the same feeling. More substance and less flash would do this video grand. Also, Baby Neptune lacks the panache of, say, Vincent Van Goat (Baby Van Gogh) or Jane (World Animals) .

Last, it unbiased didn’t seem to enjoy my son’s attention like other Baby Einstein titles. Starting with Baby Beethoven, the unique disclose at Disney seems to have insecure the organic quality of the unusual tapes. To be impartial, I miss Sierra and Aspen on this tape. It helped with the “from my house to yours” feel of previous titles. The puppets also seem to be lacking in this video. The interaction of the puppets with other puppets or the children is charming on previous videos.

On a determined brand, I recommend the DVD for the explain play feature if for nothing else. I don’t stick my child in front of these tapes for hours at a time, but we often have them on in the background when we are playing together. Serene, when you need a video babysitter to derive the dishes done, having this option is a lifesaver!

I recognize forward to the Runt Einstein series in the works for older children. I reflect these tapes will be a touchstone for my child’s generation, considerable like “School House Rock” or “Free To Be You And Me” was for mine.

Right before the Christmas, 1965 release of “Do Not Disturb”, Fox executive Richard Zanuck eminent that the film’s star, Doris Day was the only surefire actress at the box-office in Hollywood. Doris Day movies made money and the public flocked to scrutinize Miss Day whenever a unusual film was released. “Disturb” continued that pattern, earning 20th Century Fox a nice profit although not quite in the league of earlier and some latter Day films. Nevertheless, it kept Miss Day in the box-office top ten. The 1965 list, released lawful after this film’s release, showed her the top female star at the box-office, placing third on the list.

“Do Not Disturb” is lightweight, harmless, comical fluff. It is saved by some spacious production values including the cinematography of Oscar winner, Leon Shamroy, Miss Day’s energetic performance and some of the most exquisite outfits the star has ever faded including a drop-dead resplendent evening gown that clearly indicates that Miss Day was one of the silver screen’s sexiest actresses.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Do Not Disturb! Click Here

Unfortunately the writing material given the gifted star doesn’t give her the opportunities she deserves to shine as the skilled comical she has proven to be repeatedly. However, she makes the most of what is available.

The film represents her first on-screen teaming with Rod Taylor. They work well together although the chemistry they point to the following year in MGM’s hilarious “Glass Bottom Boat” isn’t evidenced.

The opening credits are cute, the title song is catchy and rendered expertly by Miss Day. The supporting cast are all beneficial and features some of Hollywood’s best veterans.

The region about a American couple adjusting to life in London has been done to death previously. A couple of sequences are very comical, however Director Ralph Levy whose greatest fame was helming the hit Burns and Allen series on television in the 50’s, is not skillful enough to milk all the laughs from the station. A Norman Jewison would probably have made it seem funnier.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Do Not Disturb! Click Here

All this aside, Miss Day is delightful and there are some laughs, guffaws and chuckles throughout and the whole thing is exquisite to glimpse at.

Time Magazine in reviewing the film referred to it as “Day’s Hard Night”. It’s better than they would lead you to bear.

If your expectations are not for another “Thrill of It All” or “Pillow Talk”, “Do Not Disturb” will be a gracious blueprint to pass a couple of hours.

It’s unbelievable to peep, finally, this Doris Day comedy on DVD. The formula plays remarkable like the 1963 “Recede Over, Darling”, but that formula works, and changing it up with modern spot incidents, locales, stars and designs makes “Do Not Disturb” a vintage share of exquisite entertainemt. Day is so winning and acts with such effortless ease, that we go correct along with the funny sitcom station devices. In fact, we devour them because she brings reality to even the most hackneyed gags. As usual, Day is surrounded by acting and production pros who perform the proceedings all the more toothsome because we don’t effort that any element of the film is going to plunge apart. “Do Not Disturb” takes us to the far-off lands of England and France via 20th Century Fox’s backlot, and wraps everything visual with immense style. The costumes for Day are particularly lavish here, including a spectacular floor length, backless, sequined tangerine gown - which she fills with utterly toothsome femininity. Rod Taylor is a attractive co-star (he’s even better with her in 1966’s “Glass Bottom Boat”), Hermione Baddeley gets to glam it up as a genteel British countrywoman, and Sergio Fantoni makes a terrific romantic foil. Lots of fizzy fun, titanic cast and production execute this a film that can be viewed repeatedly as the type of romantic comedy that simply could not be made any longer.

The Resident Faulty series has become one of the top selling titles for video game company CAPCOM. Known in Japan as “Biohazard”, the series has sold over 34 million games and among the series, one of the most favorite titles was the 1996 Sony Playstation game “Resident Foul 2 which introduced us to the characters of Racoon City rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield (sister of “Resident Substandard 1 hero Chris Redfield) .

Buy,Download, Or Stream Resident Evil: Degeneration! Click Here

The two were favorite characters that fans enjoyed and in 2005, “Resident Unsuitable 4 featuring Leon Kennedy became a gigantic hit earning “Game of the Year” by various publications.

With the popularity of the character of Leon Kennedy, how fitting was it when CAPCOM announced the reuniting of both Leon and Claire. As a fan of the video game series, I was definitely exasperated and couldn’t wait to contemplate the film. “resident evil: DEGENERATION” takes space seven years after “Resident Dismal 2.

VIDEO & AUDIO:

Picture quality is glowing salubrious. The film is entirely in CG and was created in Maya. The CG was well done but not as fluid as “Final Fantasy: Advent Children” but collected looked very impressive. The rendered character models were objective big to spy at (especially at the beginning when you seek the airport or even the WilPharm HQ. Both spy very realistic!) and Leon, Claire and Angela Miller model renders were objective very well done. If anything, there is cramped jerkiness when it comes to a conclude up of a character and trying to perform it do natural and realistic movements during a conversation. But during the action scenes, the movements were very nice and overall, the CG was very well done.

If anything, fans of the video games will more than likely like these CG rendered scenes.

As for audio, the audio is featured in Dolby Digital 5.1 and during the action scenes (which there are many), sound does near alive and sounds very suitable on my system. Dialogue is quite sure. As for the music, the ending theme “Guilty” is by Japanese music artist ANNA TSUCHIYA.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

The DVD features quite a few special features which include:

* The Generation of DEGENERATION featurette - This featurette interviews Makoto Kamiya and other CAPCOM staff and their goal with the film, why they outmoded the exact English notify actors in terms of the motion bewitch (including having them learn how to fill a gun) and more behind-the-scenes footage on the creation of the film. Also, fan reaction at San Diego Comical Con.

* Character Profiles - Profiles feature a text blurb on each character and you can access a video or photography profile (from parts of the film) .

* Articulate Bloopers - This is more or less bloopers but not certain if it was intentionally created or if it was true bloopers. One featured Leon Kennedy telling the others about his “fee”. Quite amusing to gawk.

* Faux Leon Interview - I’m not quite positive what this feature was about. A man is interviewing one of the motion recall actors and the actor is talking about working with Kamiya-san and others on the film.

* Resident Evil: Degeneration Trailers - Trailers for the film

* Resident Evil: Degeneration Tokyo Game Demonstrate Trailer - Tokyo Game Point To trailer

* Resident Wrong 5 Special Game Footage - Promotional video for the upcoming Playstation “Resident Contaminated” game.

* Resident Inferior 5 Game Trailers - Trailers for the upcoming Playstation 3 video game.

Let me first say that I am a gargantuan fan of the “Resident Horrible” series and I gain nearly all the US releases. “Resident Injurious 2 really was innovative when it first was released for the Sony Playstation and was my celebrated R.E. game until “Resident Unfavorable 4 was released and that video game was fair wonderful.

So, that being said, watching this film had me smiling because I absolutely love both the characters of Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield. How this film furthers the storyline of the two characters but also builds on obvious situations that may have major ramifications for future video game releases is quite intelligent.

So, with that being said, I enjoyed the film because the creators really wanted to pay homage to “Resident Execrable 2 and “Resident Corrupt 4 video game series and its fans. But I realize that many people who are not familiar with the video game series are wondering how the context of this film is to the live-action film series featuring Mila Jovovich.

There is a relation by name and of course, the virus that turns people to zombies but really, this film was created for the fans of the video game series in mind.

Also, with this being a video game-related film, many who crave a deep storyline with character development of who is Claire and who is Leon may feel disappointed. The reason why video gamers who played the video games is that through those video game moments of playing these characters for hours, there was a vested interest.

I would choose that many viewers not familiar with the video game series won’t steal up the importance of Claire or Leon to the loyal “Resident Unpleasant” storyline. In fact, some may wonder why they should care about these characters especially at the kill with the politics surrounding the viruses.

So, with that being said, “resident evil: DEGENERATION” is an awesome film for those who followed the video game series. The film features plenty of non-stop action, bloody violence courtesy to the zombies and you even find a scene with blood that splatters on to the camera. But the enjoyment comes from those who had the experience of playing “Resident Unfavorable 2 and “Resident Infamous 4 and to notice Claire and Leon again.

The CG looks colossal and there are some moments that I was impartial really in dread but at the same time, there are some movements that were jerky and robotic at times. But overall, the model renders were ample and Leon and Claire inspect very wonderful. So, the bottom line is that this film is honest total fan service for “Resident Sinister” video game fans. So powerful that I highly recommend this DVD.

For those who are not familiar with the video game series, you may like it but if you are expecting a continuation of the live action films, then this DVD may not be for you. In fact, some may be disappointed because there is no strong dwelling for them to truly relish these characters especially without playing the video games. So, I can understand if they don’t pick up into it.

Again, if you are fans of the “Resident Horrible” video games, you can’t back but have a smile on your face because there is now a “Resident Wicked” film that was created with the RE video game fan in mind. And for that, I recommend this DVD for you!

I watched Degeneration in NY Apprehension Film Festival. At first I didn’t inquire a lot from this movie, cause the live action trilogy is very disappointing and I unbiased didn’t dare to question it would be first-rate, but it is. If you’re an RE fan, it’s a must-see movie. You won’t be disappointed. Luckily the movie doesn’t focus on fighting zombies too noteworthy. It is a drama/thriller. The movie successfully combines T & G-virus storyline fans are familiar with. Although not great character development, you can devour the legend. CG fragment in my notion is not as qualified as Final Fantasy. Characters’ facial expression is a itsy-bitsy stiff, and their “stares” are tiresome. Women survey like they had plastic surgery. But these are not serious problems, fair the technical parts they need to improve. Degeneration epic is considerable better than FF. After watching its premiere, I can’t wait to consume the DVD.

This was a very warm and titillating movie! It shows how one person with a lot of determination can get a inequity. Before seeing the movie I had no view of how the protection for the Spirit Beget came about or how this young boy was able to turn his fight for an animal he loved into a worldwide organization to aid hold our precious wild animals and their habitat. I was left feeling very uplifted with the knowledge that there are so many out there who care about preserving our planet and her wildlife. If you are an animal and earth lover, you will really appreciate this film. I conception the acting was a puny frail and phony, but the stunning scenery and the message it brings across makes up for it.

This is a sage of a boy who would not give up.

Some intention into Abel Ferrara’s ‘King Of Fresh York’, two gangsters conspire in a tiny cinema showing F.W. Murnau’s 1922 scare classic ‘Nosferatu’. Playing the scene where the vampire disembarks his corpse- and rat-ridden ship docked in England, it has sure reference to Ferrara’s protagonist, Frank White (Christopher Walken in one of cinema’s tremendous, swiftly performances), a drug-smuggler recently released from a long period in prison, hoping to reassert his local criminal power. White refers to his return as ‘coming succor from the dead’, and Walken’s long, tremulous figure and dancer’s movements have some of the aristocratic grace of a eminent hide Dracula, Christopher Lee. Mostly seen at night, he gathers recent recruits (unusual blood) around him to ‘feed’ on. One great shot, after a prolonged sequence of snappy violence, has him lit so his eyes shine like some jumpy undead; another has the camera following him through a railway site until it is stopped by bars - it can only impotently glimpse as White glides up the stairs to be swallowed by the night. The film even has as one of his opponents a cop played by future vampire-slayer Wesley Snipes.

But the ‘Nosferatu’ allusion points to something else - Ferrara’s unusual absorption of still cinema. In terms of sigh, ‘King’ is a gangster film like any other: loud, frightening, violent, brutal, lurid, hysterical. But it has a purity and beauty very different from the stylised melodramas of Martin Scorcese, whose equally bloodthirsty ‘Goodfellas’ came out in the same year. The first ten minutes is an astounding, virtually wordless, visual tour-de-force, not simply presenting the main character, his region and environment, but introducing symbolic motifs that are all the more much for being valid, a share of Frank’s world, and not simply imposed. Bars and grids (in prison, gates, bridges etc.) are the most prominent, signifying initially Frank’s literal imprisonment, then his difficulties with the law and fellow criminals, and his frustrated ambitions (including a Guiliani-like zero-tolerance programme to desirable up the streets), but eventually, as we might ask from a Ferrara littering his film with religious iconography, something distinguished more metaphysical, outside the confines of genre (hence the references to Melville) .

After this, there is a lot of talk - noisy, profane, humorous, aggressive, threatening - but the best sequences sustain this still aesthetic: the night-club double faulty leading to a car wander and man-hunt under a bridge; a police funeral in which a limousine hit provokes the scattering of black-clad, bankside mourners; the ‘Le Samourai’-like subway confrontation between gangster and cop [although the film's very greatest scene, Larry Fishburne's Jimmy Jump ordering rapidly food objective before being busted for abolish, depends for its execute on the conflict between talk and silence, his bluster oblivious to the still arrests playing out tedious him]. The spend of grand, intense close-ups bewitch the emotional mute era, as does Ferrara’s camerawork, more deliberate and heavy than Scorcese’s flash pyrotechnics. The staging of set-pieces is as artifical as Murnau’s setscapes in ‘Sunrise’; the underworld carnival is more Celine than Scorcese. Even the exhaust of blue filter in key scenes is less a signifier of atmosphere or artifice than a nod to the practise of ‘colorising’ monochrome silents.

Buy,Download, Or Stream King of New York! Click Here

By employing this style from a period he clearly loves, Ferrara is able to inject a spirituality and ceremonial gravitas not immediately apparent in the crudity of the genre subject.

KING OF Novel YORK is, for my money, the most well-known (and the most underrated) film of the last 20 years. It is a homage to the classic American genre - the gangster record - with the depth and subtext of a European art-movie. It’s a precursor to urban crime thrillers like Unique Jack City and Menace II Society (Ferrara points out they first obsolete a rap-score in 1982) . An ode to drug-culture. A pitchblack satire of capitalism and its grotesque fallout. It’s got a cast to die for, and a close-knit crew at the height of their powers.

Buy,Download, Or Stream King of New York! Click Here

It’s shot across an array of locations including Sing-Sing, Donald Trump’s Plaza Hotel, and various crack-lanes; it weaves seamlessly between an modern rep, and the music of Vivaldi and Schooly D; the film is meticulously colour-coded (as pointed out by Slit Johnstone in his book) to add up to a frosty critique of the red WHITE and blue, the all-American war-on-drugs; the tempo is expertly-managed, the movie simmers for a while then explodes into heavy-metal carnage, and then it dies with a unlit whimper. The film is spectacularly violent, but believe about the handling of the violence. There’s a tall Peckinpah slo-mo shootout, then the brave shootout in Chinatown. But in the 2nd half of the movie the deaths are deliver, painful to inspect, and pitiful in their execution.

And then there’s the cast: Walken was never better. He mesmirises you, brilliantly charismatic. And he looks so otherworldy, what with the hair and the deathly complexion, he’s like the man who fell to Earth, the oddest looking `hero’ you’ve ever seen. Fishburne reinvented a character imagined for James Russo and the whole movie turns on that transition. Its simply impossible to imagine how it could have worked ½ as well with Russo, or any1 else for that matter. Caruso is a fire-engine red ball of rage. The scene when he rushes from his colleagues funeral is one of the most beautifully played-out expressions of vigilantism ever place on film. Argo as a weary, deflated, pill-poppin’ `old man’ who has been there and knows the war is unwise and un-win-able.

As far as Im concerned, every sequence, every line of dialogue (”I’m not the dilemma, I’m objective a businessman”) is pure gold. Ferrara’s is the cult-of-cults, his movies usually too far-out or nihilistic to accumulate mighty of a following. But this one I bet Tarantino wishes he’d made.

Buy,Download, Or Stream King of New York! Click Here

And the DVD package…The documentary is not comprehensive, but it re-enforces what sets Ferrara’s films above those of most of his contemporaries, the sheer degree of collaboration enthusiastic. Abe’s anarchist mentality has freed up guys like Joe Delia (music), Anthony Redman (editor), Charles Lagola (production get) and Ken Kelsch to acquire exactly the sort of films they want. Kelsch makes the most telling statement towards the extinguish, which might interpret why Ferrara hasn’t made a film for about five years (after a Woody Allen-esque burst of creativity in the 90s) . In fact, as basic as it is, the doco is startlingly impartial and revealing about its subject.

Ferrara previously contributed a delirious commentary to The Driller Killer, but this time round you kinda feel shadowy listening to his hazy lack of insight, having the suspicion that his personal curse has robbed him of both his allies and his inspiration at the moment when he’s finally getting his dues. But the commentary track is actually a blast! Abel and his best-mate Frankie crack commence a few brews, he makes some comic asides about Walken’s hair and the reaction to the film on release. And if you come by to the credits, you acquire to listen to Abel bang out Schooly’s title-track on an acoustic guitar with a Dylan yelp.

Check out the title card on the trailer. Under the title it reads (a Ferrara / St. John modern), like the credits on the notice of a 45″ characterize. Like Mick and Keef, or Scorsese and Schrader, these guys made dynamite 2gether. KONY is their towering achievement, it’s one of the immense films ever made.

The Harunos are not your typical family. The father is a hypnotist, whose scheme is to enable people to dream alternate worlds; the mother aspires to arrangement anime; the grandfather is also an artist, who takes huge delight in his unconventional ways; the daughter is shrinking by a giant version of herself who follows her around and stares unhappily at what she does; the son, perhaps the most ordinary, is a afraid but quick-witted boy who has fallen in savor. The film is aesthetic, corpulent of visual surprises and laugh out loud moments. I had no understanding what a nice surprise was waiting for me when I rented this on a whim; I will definitely purchase this dvd since it is one that could definitely live up to command viewings and I can’t wait to introduce it to other friends and lovers of cinema. I can’t bear I’d never heard of this pretty and charming film about family and treasure and obsession and work and friendship and above all, imagination. It may seem insensible, since its aim is not so mighty to recede through the paces of a epic as to grasp a residence of lives whose worries and obsessions are vividly brought to life in their imaginations, but it is never dull. A luscious surprise, that brings the visual wonder of the best Japanese animation to the live action account of an eccentric but spellbinding family. Definitely one to ogle for anyone who like to be surprised when they peek movies.

This is a movie that’s in no particular accelerate to secure anywhere. There’s no status in any venerable sense. So why is it a fabulous movie? Because the cinematography is gorgeous, because the characters are lovably uncommon, and because in its aimless and roundabout design it’s a feel-good movie where everybody ultimately gets what they want. And Grandpa’s Devo-esque song about the mountain is priceless!

While fans may be divided over the relative merits (or not) of Dario Argento’s unusual output, there’s no denying the sheer visceral power of his earlier accomplishments. TENEBRE contains some of the most genuinely evil material in Argento’s entire filmography, and some of the best performances too. Anthony Franciosa is quietly convincing in his role as an American writer in Rome, targeted by an obsessive killer who’s been modelling a series of murders on scenes from the author’s latest book; and the hugely underrated John Saxon provides a memorable turn as Franciosa’s shady literary agent (his final scene is a miniature masterpiece of observation, brilliantly edited) .

The rest of the cast is less sure-footed, perhaps because these outmoded European actors - including Daria Nicolodi and Giuliano Gemma - aren’t entirely comfortable performing in English, though the entire cast play second fiddle to the director’s bravura execution of the curious scenario. Argento takes mountainous delight in toying with the audience’s expectations and misdirecting them with clever bits of visual trickery, whilst punctuating the memoir with a series of horrific ‘exclamation marks’ (such as Veronica Lario dying in a spectacular welter of gore), culminating in a truly terrifying finale. What’s more, he indulges his trademark eccentricities without obscuring the area or the characterisations, and the film takes its plot alongside DEEP RED (1975) as one of the enduring giallos of the 20th century. A triumph.

After seeing Dario Argento’s 1982 (it is ‘82, not ‘87) film “Tenebrae,” I have moved into the final phases of seeing his entire body of work. It was easy to claim ignorance of many of this Italian director’s films until a few years ago because it was difficult to catch them anywhere, let alone in an uncut perform. Fortunately, DVD arrived on the scene and keen film fans with dollars to expend inspired numerous companies to originate churning out any movie they could accumulate their hands on. It wasn’t too long before practically every Argento film arrived on store shelves, many of them in uncut, unrated formats. Unfortunately, most viewers have likely never heard of Dario Argento. These days more people know about the director’s exquisite daughter Asia than the awe maestro himself. What a shame. Argento’s films, at least the ones I have seen, are masterpieces of style injected with truly cringe inducing violence. For a few years in the 1980s and 1990s, Argento drifted away from his tried and legal giallo formula, only recently returning to some semblance of manufacture with “The Stendhal Syndrome” and “Sleepless.” “Tenebrae” was Argento’s first “return” to the giallo genre, after he strayed into the supernaturally themed “Suspiria” and “Inferno.”

I happen to consider “Tenebrae” may well be the best Argento film I have seen, even better than his first wave of gialli. It’s the fable of Peter Neal (Anthony Franciosa), a accepted writer of disturbing novels who travels to Italy to promote his latest thriller. Unfortunately for Neal, and more so for several other people, a killer decides to imitate the murders laid out in the author’s most modern book. It isn’t too long before the local police, in the originate of Detective Germani (Giuliano Gemma), develop the connection between the homicides and Neal’s book. With his assistant Anna (Daria Nicolodi), book agent Bullmer (John Saxon), and a young man named Gianni (Christian Borromeo) standing by his side, the favorite novelist soon joins the investigation into these repugnant crimes. And shocking they are as only Dario Argento can fabricate them. We glimpse throat slashings, stabbings, a hand liberated from a wrist, and other gooey surprises shot in the sort of alarming, grievous cessation up that is a trademark of this director’s trace of cinematic carnage. “Tenebrae” constitutes one of Argento’s most disturbingly violent escapades into the giallo genre. It is, fortunately, one of his most coherent films as well.

Neal continues to promote his book even as he helps the police in the hunt for the killer. He faces a slew of protests about the supposedly misogynistic, ultra violent thunder of his novels from an inflamed female protestor and from a smarmy television critic on one of those face-to-face talk shows. Both of Neal’s critics perish horribly soon after (surprise, surprise), thus throwing some suspicion on the author himself as a prime suspect. Of course, many others could very well be the ones putting on the shaded gloves. The only precise clue we secure from Argento, if you can call it that, is a unusual flashback of a young woman tormenting a boy with her red-heeled shoes. As creepy carnival style music plays throughout the flashback, we then stare the focus shift to the killer stepping out from slack a hedgerow to stab the woman. What this memory means, and why we sight it from the perspective of the killer, soon emerges as “Tenebrae” draws to its ultra horrible conclusion. And the conclusion is monstrous, containing some of the most graphic gore I’ve seen as well as a truly gasp wonderful revelation I won’t interpret on here except to say other films (”Nightmares in a Damaged Brain” comes to mind) have mature it to astronomical achieve. “Tenebrae” is a trusty treat for the terror fan.

Apparently, “Tenebrae” came about after a crazed fan stalked Dario Argento. Whatever the impetus for making this film, the result is one of the director’s most consuming excursions into the realms of anxiety. Aside from the graphic gore, we also find the requisite Argento photographic style. Check out that crane shot of the outside of the apartment building, a shot that runs on forever while building the suspense up to a fever pitch. Then there’s the enormous poke scene with the dog, and the cancel of the television critic that we contemplate through the windows of his house. Argento truly achieves a masterful vision of mayhem with “Tenebrae.” The performances, although dubbed in spots, are darn effective too. Franciosa does a sizable job playing the ecstatic go lucky Peter Neal, and it’s always ample to discover John Saxon in another anxiety film (even if he does consume a lot of time messing around with that confounded hat!) . “Tenebrae” also ratchets up the suspense by employing yet another mesmerizing synthesizer net from Goblin. The music heard doing those flashback sequences ranks as one of the eeriest bits of music I’ve ever heard in a apprehension movie. Yes sir, “Tenebrae” worked on nearly every level for this genre fan.

Dario Argento would go on to perform several non-giallo films after “Tenebrae” (”Phenomena” starring a young Jennifer Connolly among them) before heading benefit to his roots again. None of his current black-gloved nightmare thrillers, however, can match the pounding intensity of this movie. Extras on the DVD include a commentary track, an alternate raze credits music section, and a couple of late the scenes looks at the film. Less here than on other discs, perhaps, but the movie is so estimable you won’t care. I’m starting to net a itsy-bitsy shadowy since I’m running out of Argento films to ogle for the first time. Nonetheless, I now know I can always advance attend to “Tenebrae” when I want to behold the best Dario Argento has to offer.

A man is shot and killed. His body dies, but not his spirit. Before leaving this world for the next, he must accept a diagram to warn his lover that she is in impending inconvenience from the culprits. Sound unbiased a slight familiar? It should. The belief for this account is loosely based on none other then “Hamlet”. This though is not quite as deep or complex as Shakespeare’s ample tragedy. It is however, a concept provoking, touching tale that has a exiguous something for everybody. It’s got romance, comedy, mystery and suspense, fantasy, action and most importantly…WHOOPI!

So how does Sam(Patrick Swayze) manage to design contact with his beloved Molly(Demi Moore) after his death? Well he goes through a psychic of course. Not fair any psychic though..he finds a medium who’s larger than life..Oda Mae Brown(Whoopi Goldberg) .

Together, they turn Molly into a believer(along with the audience) and amble down the murderous thugs out to glean her.

The action, and suspense will retain you on the edge of your seat, the romance will thrill you and the special effects are pretty. Whoopi Goldberg is extraordinary, and provides the fantastic comical relief in the tale, as a con artist who finds herself with a gift to give. She took home an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for this 1990 film. The film was also honored with the Best Recent Screenplay. Swayze and Moore seem like they were made for each other and will have you believing in fancy ever after.

The DVD presents a nice sure characterize in widescreen and the sound gives you the choice of DD5.1 surround or stereo surround. It may also be viewed in French(stereo) and has English subtitles for those needing them. The features include commentary by the Director(Jerry Zucker), and Writer (Bruce Joel Rubin), as well as an informative retrospective on the film(this is where I learned of the “Hamlet” connection) .

The film is rated PG-13. There are some scenes of violence and of course there’s the very sensuous clay sculpting scene to the tune of “Unchained Melody”(who can ever forget that?!)

If you have already seen this movie, and know it’s one that you will leer over and over(and to that I would say “Ditto”), this gargantuan DVD is a bargain. If you haven’t seen it, it’s well worth a try and will hold everybody alive to for the entire length of the film.

Go for it and luxuriate in….Laurie

A picture-perfect modern-day romance that tells an spellbinding romantic narrative, “Ghost” is one of the best romantic films ever made. In it, we peruse objective what lengths someone will go to for their worship for someone else, and also shows us that the like we have for someone in our life goes on after death. Director Jerry Zucker, and acting by Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg, all gain this movie a landmark that everybody knows about.

What is so special about the chronicle is the connection between the two romantic leads. Swayze plays Sam Wheat, who, with his longtime girlfriend Molly, is remodeling a penthouse apartment in Unique York, where they soon live together, completely gay and in appreciate. We have no reason to put a question to the care for fable angle because the direction and acting content us from the very beginning the nature of their relationship, and does it in understandable terms. Sam also works for a major banking corporation, where he has a best friend Carl, who seems more than willing to recall definite workloads off of Sam’s shoulders. One night, Sam and Molly are space upon by a thief, who demands Sam’s wallet, and after a struggle, Sam is left with a fatal gunshot distress. Of course, being slow, he is now a ghost, and must gape as Molly comes to the realization that her lover is slow.

The acting of these two actors is what makes all of this incredibly affecting, most especially Molly’s coping with Sam’s sudden exit from her life. She keeps his personal things, as well as any itsy-bitsy scrap of paper or memory she can possess onto, with Sam watching all of this from tedious her shoulder and Carl trying his best to comfort and console her. Sam soon pays a visit to a con artist medium named Otta Mae Brown, played by Whoopi Goldberg, who is the only person that Sam is able to talk to. The comedy of the movie really picks up as we are given scenes of Brown walking in the streets arguing with the air, talking to the walls, and having hissy fits with Sam in public. Goldberg is really given a chance to shine in this role, playing out some of her best lines and material ever.

Comedy then mixes with drama and action as the situation reveals that Carl was a mastermind gradual a assassinate conspiracy. Carl is in desperate need of money, and when he found out that Sam was in charge of a four million dollar bank memoir, he hired a hitman to have Sam killed in order to try and prefer over the yarn and remove the money. As he further tries to worm his intention into Molly’s life, Sam becomes more and more certain to try and acquire a device of reaching her aside from giving Otta Mae instructions on what to say to her. Swayze is able to give us a powerhouse performance here, as his character sits abet and can do nothing to physically protect his esteem. He feels aged, helpless, and these emotions are played out brilliantly.

The film won an Academy Award, one of two, for Best Recent Screenplay for 1990. The script is a melting pot of many different elements: comedy that comes from the relationship of Otta Mae and Sam’s collaboration, supernatural elements stemming from the ghost angle, thriller techniques that reside in the mystery of Sam’s death and Carl’s intentions, and most famous, the admire memoir that Molly and Sam live out, which serves as the basis for everything that happens. It has a puny bit of everything for everyone, which gave diverse audiences what they wanted and made it a sheer success among people.

Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze both give generous performances that sustain the worship narrative going. They both have a chemistry that never stops or staggers the film, but keeps it going. Whoopi Goldberg is Otta Mae Brown, a role she was born to play and for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her amusing genius and diverse areas of acting play a major role, and sometimes become the heart of the film. Tony Goldwyn plays the conniving Carl, and does so effectively. He is one of those few people in a movie that the audience can truly detest for his crimes, and when the ending comes, it is pure satisfaction to gawk him rep what’s coming to him.

“Ghost” is nothing short of a successful movie, keeping us enthralled with comedic, romantic and thrilling elements, making us contain in things beyond this world. It never stops spicy, it is utterly fresh, and it keeps us at the edge of our seats as well as tugging at our hearts.
